OK, so we have a lot of "Cheap **this category**" threads. How about one for laptops? There are lots of "cheap" laptops, but how many of those cheap laptops are actually good deals? For a laptop to be decent, it needs to be able to run 8GB or RAM or more... it might need a decent screen (1080p seems like a good measure) and decent battery life (or at least have an alternative battery available). It could be a 4GB model that can be upgraded with SO-DIMMs (is it cost effective for that model, though?)
So, if you see a good deal on a laptop, which meets the criteria of "decent" either as purchased, or with some simple, cheap upgrades, please post.
This is a bit self-serving... I might soon have to buy a laptop for the wife, but I'll post here if I see anything that looks worthwhile.
