In response to the 2011 Charger thread; I maintain that the 2011 Charger, like its predecessor, is still major FAIL.

Go back over a decade to 1999 and you'll find in the form of a concept car...

The Charger they SHOULD HAVE produced

Just LOOK at those sexy lines. How could they have dropped that for the ugly POS 4-door sedan they made? No wonder they went bankrupt!

Do not want. I actually prefer the production model. This concept looks like a failed abortion on a Prius. Everything about the car says "concept that will never make it to production". The lines, proportions, everything is just wrong.

If you figure designs back in 1999 it looks sweet but as compared to todays standards and expectations then it would`nt fly as most have said... Everyone is all about the front facia look which could be redesigned with a newer look to blend into the rest of the car which for Dodge looks awesome and this comes from a Chevy person...

But as for the last part of what you said the real reason they went bankrupt is not because of their looks as Chrysler has made some of most awesome looking cars by design, but because beauty is only skin deep... Frick`in quality was for shit and everyone basicly knew this ever since .001-.002 under rod and main bearings from the early 70`s in brand new engines to just plain poor materials and workmanship...

What? Prius? There's nothing that even comes close to remotely resembling anything on a Prius. That statement is so baffling, I have no idea what you could possibly be thinking.

Everything is wrong? Are we looking at the same car?

The front end could use some work (make that front fender-to-nose line a bit thicker so its not quite as rakish, likewise make the front part of the canopy/windshield a bit less rakish, and then rework the front fascia).

Even as is I'd take it over the much more boxy production Chargers that look like pigs compared to this.

Are you guys hung up on the name or something? That is the only thing I can think of that would cause you to have a negative reaction to this car.

The first and second pics aren't stellar, but the others are good, especially the side profile. Are you guys unable to look past the front fascia or something? The back half of the car is outright excellent.

The concept picture he linked to is one of the ugliest cars I've seen in a long long time. Has nothing to do with name though. Thanks for the total fail on understanding personal preference though.

The side contours remind me of a vette. The hood line over the wheels reminds of an 87'ish Trans-Am. The front end reminds me of one of those pug dogs that looks like they smashed their face against the wall to many times, and the roofline just looks stuck on. The only thing I like about that car is the rear quarter-panel back.

But please, go ahead and tell us why YOUR opinion should over-ride everyone elses who might happen to dislike the car because they think it's ugly as sin.

I like the retro look of the Charger and Challenger. The police version looks yummy.

The problem with Dodge's pony car revivals is what's under the hood. They're underpowered and pigs on gas compared to the competition. Their pony cars are also more expensive than what GM and Ford are pushing.

Yeah, that looks pretty ugly IMO. I actually didn't think the current Charger looks that bad. I remember seeing pics of a custom done 2-door (sans posts) that looked bad ass. Of course that would be overlapping the Challenger now.

They are also bigger roomier more luxurious cars. Go sit in the back seat of a Mustang for 200 miles, then try a Challenger. As much of a muscle car guy as I am, Chrysler was smart to do 4 doors. Just on ATG alone you see people looking for something with muscle that is also practical for a 1-2 car family with kids, and 2 doors on cars like the Mustang and Camaro force alot of people to other cars. Charger, Magnum, etc, perfect for these people.

If there is any reason for Chrysler to fail, it's perception and bias and people just hating Chrysler. They make cheap cars, they are cheap and crappy. They make big luxurious high quality vehicles, they are heavy pigs. They have a hot popular seller year after year with the PT cruiser and everybody who never bought one wants them to can it. They just cannot win with that much hate.

Might not be for us, but people were buying it. Forums are full of people saying Chrysler needs to make cars people will buy, but then bitch that they keep producing one of their most popular and profitable vehicles.
