the camera on the droid x is mediocre as hell

I have been toying with a droid x this week(awesome phone) but damn the camera is horrible. I have a 2 year old blackberry tour that takes much better pics. Is this typical for all motorola phones?

I have the original Droid and that is one thing I hate about it. I had a BB Tour and a now a Bold, and they both take 100x better pics than the Droid. It must be a Motorola thing if the X has the same crap camera.

The video taking is great with the various "scenes" utilizing the three microphones on the phone. The concert scene is great on reducing all that distortion you see on concert videos. The wind noise one is pretty good too.

Pro tip. Wipe the lens cover with your shirt. I thought my camera was shittier than any other phone I had, until I did this. Now it's an acceptable daylight camera for snapshots. Close ups aren't too shabby either.

Shrug, for those of us who have come from top end feature phones and stuff, SE and Nokia has made excellent cameraphones for a long time now.

Today's 5MP Android phones still can't outdo the Nokia N95 from 2007.

The camera on the Droid 1 absolutely blows, no argument from me there. In bright light, if you can hold the phone perfectly steady, it'll take a decent picture. Anything in low light or with motion of the target or your own hands, and forget it. The updates in CM allow some tweaking, and some of the 3rd party camera apps work a little better, but the bottom line is the hardware is weak.

If I want to take a solid picture, I'll bring my 12MP Fuji. Its a simple point and shoot digital camera, but its far better than any cell phone camera on the market right now.
