Don't take this the wrong way... but why do they need CDR's? (The other stuff I kinda understand... and can't they buy some of it too?)

I think the person was just sprouting off all the hardware they could think of. I wish someone would sponser me and get me there.

How about for media documents and images to distribute to the media?

Transfer data... ghost images to duplicate on other machines... backups... lots of reasons why CDRs are essentials these days.
