eff spring cleaning. i clean when i want.

which means rarely.

which means i often find cool stuff i didn't know i had! :awe:

jackets33.jpg

was going through old stuff of my dad's...he had multiple leather jackets, sport coats, et al. none of it ever fit me, he was too short.

both of these things, however, do! the left jacket is a 'boston harbour,' whatever that is. but it's comfy and well worn while being of half-decent quality. no one knows where it came from. i tried to ask my mom 'that' question and she denies any knowledge of whose it could be. mine now!

right jacket, i knew of, but had never really looked at. saw the fur collar and thought it was just some gay pea coat.

but i pulled it out, and waitaminute, is this a patrol jacket?

yup! apparently it was my grandfather's last patrol jacket...which is why it's new; he definitely wasn't 'walking a beat' in his later years (i do not know much about him, really, but he was with the dept a long long time). i even found some patches in the pocket that he had saved, along with the jacket...apparently for me, although no one ever told me.

is the blue part rank insignia? never seen that, if so, i would assume that's like your high 'enlisted' (yeah i know they're all 'officers') rank, like first sergeant? hopefully someone can confirm/correct. i think it's cool that these were definitely sewn on at some point (to a shirt, looks like).

other stuff shown is my old-ass kodak 2MP camera, which to this day i still say i would take anywhere in the world with me, assuming i had the space. rugged motherfucker, right there. other camera is similar to my old canon A95 and is apparently my sister's old camera...the funny part is, i bought it for her. so while it's a cheap, easy to use point and shoot, it has a nice lens, 6x zoom, and does 480p video at 30fps! so the canon is still my guy for pics, but this is my new 'camcorder.' plus it takes SD instead of CF. she probably abandoned this thing for an inferior camera because it said 'sony 10MP' or something.

anyone else find any cool/useful lost/forgotten shit lately?

I found one of my old stick tire pressure gauges today. Not really exciting, but I needed it. I left my digital gauge on top of my Jeep a couple months ago, and lost it :^(

fail sir! you can post when you find your other one stuck between the seat cushions.

literal pro tip- find some cheapies that are accurate(ish) and buy them by the fistful. everyone i've ever know with an expensive gauge has also lost or broken an expensive gauge. even a 'good' spring gauge is only a guess (i usually see them vary up to about 5psi between gauges), but they do the job.

I believe the blue hashmarks are for years of service.

i still can't find anything on this patch. can anyone confirm this?

i'd have to think, unless this was an old patch, it would have to be like one blue hash per 5 years, at least.
