The Box o truth

Interesting stuff, even for those of us that are familiar with the information presented. It will be particularly eye-opening to those who only know about guns from their experience playing Counter-Strike. 😛

Haha, looks like something I would do. That picture of the last lock frm the shotgun is great!

Fun 🙂

I heard a story about a guy that found out that a double barrel blackpowder shotgun pistol (I'm sure there's a better name for it) was the perfect home defense weapon because you couldn't overload it, it made tons of noise and had a wide spread, even close up, and didn't penetrate two sheets of plywood. The downside was that you couldn't store a blackpowder gun loaded for extended periods of time. At the back of his house was a desert, so once a week he would just go and shoot both barrels off. Every house in the neighborhood was eventually robbed at one time or another except his and his neighbors.

Ariticles coming up will probably include some bulletproof glass, sandbags, and perhaps engine blocks.

From: The Box O' Truth #4 - Miscellaneous Rounds Meet The Box O' Truth
Moral of this lesson: Don't get in any gun fights with buffalo hunters. There ain't no such thing as cover.
Now thats some good advice

one thing interesting, as you seen in the movies, people shielding themselves from gunfire with car doors, could you add those to the list 🙂

should be easy to get from the scrap yard

We were gonna do doors, but its been proven time and time again that doors dont stop anything. It could be a future project though.

Car doors work in the sense that it's harder to aim at something that you can't clearly see. And braces and that sort of thing could deflect a round from a handgun. Gangsters and lawmen during the prohibition era used to like the BAR because it could confidently blow through a car door whereas other guns were only likely to. Aren't rifle rounds grand? 🙂

Ar15.com has quite a bit of info on various firearms if you search around. And I dont do any of the shooting.

Lots of different kinds of doors. Hollow, solid core, solid core steel covered, etc. COuld get some rejects from a local Home Improvement store possibly and see what happens. But I agree they probably won't stop anything unless specially made to do so.

yea the mythbusters guys already did it. rifle..shot clean through both doors😛
gas tank was also a dud of course.

The lower caliber assault rifle rounds are made to tumble, as their low surface/high velocity won't make real damage to a human target. However, this reduces their penetration in walls (brick/mortar).
The penetration depends more of the bullet's speed, and its capacity to retain its shape. The buckshots have "failed" the penetration tests as they were too small - the buckshot affected a bigger size than the pistol bullets.
Hmmm... Buffalo hunters... I want to be one 😀
