i am reading the bourne identity along with a couple of other books right now, and damn have i put the other books on hold, even Allen Dulles' The Craft of Intelligence.

the book is 10x more complicated and riveting than the movie. i recommend that everyone read it. if you would like to discuss the movie, thats fine with me too

the Bourne trilogy is

it's not just more complicated, they're two completely different stories, because the movie changed some of the key storylines.

I read most of the book but didn't finish the last 50-60 pages I guess. The movie was basically the same, but they definitely cut some stuff out, re-related some things, and glossed over a lot of explanations.

once i finish rereading the Dark Tower series (have read them at least a dozen times each, minus SoS) i plan on picking up the bourne trilogy.

also need to read the hannibal lector series.

and reread the anne rice vampire series (although i think there are several more books out since when i last read them)...

how can you say that it's basically the same? the book is about chasing Carlos out of his hiding, while the movie didn't even mention about Carlos. and that's only one of the many facts that they deliberately changed.

ok, i just got the part where ludlum revealed bourne's identity. it is so different from the movie. i guess hollywood does that.

Everyone liked it more, but my ADD kicked in 2/3 through since I'd already seen the movie and I didn't manage to finish it.

I haven't seen the movie yet (I'm waiting on the new SE version to be released) so I might pick up The Bourne Identity today while I'm in town. I find after seeing the movie made after a book the book is hard to read because you already know what happens, so I should probably read this one before I see the movie 🙂

thats true, because all this time i have been reading the book, i wish i hadnt seen the movie first. but oh well. i think i am gonna make the same mistke for bourne supremacy. i think its better to just assume that the book and the movie are two different stories involving more or less the same people

They had most of the major elements... Bourne not knowing who he was, the chick, Treadstone... And Carlos fits in under my "definitely cut some stuff out" section of the movie.

well, if you say so 🙂
to me, if a book trilogy is dedicated to a rivalry between two guys, and one of them does not exist in the movie, then it's a totally different story.

and there is something with Bourne's amnesia that's totally different between the book and the movie. i suggest you finish reading it to find out. i don't want to spoil it here for everybody who still want to read the book.

ok, just finished it. the ending is kind of disappointing in that carlos gets away. but i guess that's what the 2 other books talk about. in any case, a fantastic book

cool. I decided not to pick it up since I'd already blew about $60 on DVDs(LOTR: FOTR EE for $11 used, discs in AMAZING condition, & a few more) and had a few books to read already 🙂 Definitely on my list of books to read though.
