I was just introduced to this BMW EV, which apparently isn't being produced anymore (?). And why is that?

Maybe it has a short range for a full charge, but I haven't yet looked into it.

I checked it out on CARMAX.com. The used price on these -- all with low odometer mileage -- is between $12,600 and $16,000. (2015 through 2016 models.)

Here's a YouTube link discussing pros and cons of EVs, in which the presenter touts the i3:

If I put solar panels on my roofs to charge my EV, the condominium association would no longer be responsible for roof repair. Dang!

That seems really expensive considering you can get a newer Bolt for the same price or cheaper. Not quite the same thing, but if you don't need the extended range of gas, i'd consider the bolt a much better value. From what I can remember, you don't really drive that many miles? Don't think an EV would ever pencil out for you unless you wanted to use it as your sole vehicle

The i3 was very expensive for BMW to produce due to the carbon fiber shell. They only went on for as long as they did because the demand for them in Europe was always strong.

I'm currently in my 3rd i3, a 2021 i3s w/range extender.

There are three different batteries in these depending on the year produced. BMW periodically updated with newer/denser cells which increased range.

One thing to keep in mind is if you live in a cold climate that gets any amount of snow at all you absolutely need winter wheels to swap on. The stock tires on these lose much of their traction under freezing and cannot handle snow basically at all then.

I did forget, that BMW does qualify for a 30% used ev tax credit. Would make those numbers much nicer
