the Blue Angels are disturbing me

I used to live across the bay from the Naval Air Training Base in Corpus Christi, Texas.

You get used to it.

A few years back, when I was still in the AF, I was a shift worker and so slept from 8-4... the air show made me miserable, what with being maybe a mile from the flight line.

ROTFL!!! That'll be a great headline "Angry citizen shoots down Blue Angels F/A-18 with an AA battery (that was purchased from Osama)" 😉😀

I used to work about a mile from Miramar and every year for about a week before the airshow they'd be out there practicing. You could go out in front of the building and watch fighter planes doing low level passes about 500-1000' overhead. Talk about loud!!!

You could really have fun with the FAA, if you have any bottle rockets available. 😉

Seriously, though....how low are they flying? FA-18's aren't that loud (imho, comparitively speaking), and I'm sure they've got a minimum flight altitude they have to follow.....and it's not as though you're dealing with some wanna-be Top Gun noob.....these guys are true professionals.

I agree with jmdeathsquad.....get up on your roof, and take some :camera:'s. 🙂

they dont fly with any countering devices do they?

Even if they do have counter measures the only effective way to avoid AAA is flying above the range of the guns.

very true.

so its time for a Surface to air missiles!

There was an airshow that was at the ex-AFB that is across the street from my apartments. People could go down to the end of the runway (where they are building houses) and watch them turn around low enough that you were looking into the top of the plane, and it looked like you could hit them with a well thrown rock. Definately less than 500'. Probably closer to 150-200 feet up and they were turning within about 800 feet away from me. It was sweet.

They do bank when they turn.

there is no way that A) the aircraft were flying at 150-200 feet nor B) within 800 feet laterally of any structure taller than they were flying.

you either have poor judgement of distance or are exaggerating.
