The bleeps make it funnier?

I can't explain it, but somehow the bleeps on comedy shows and with stand up comedians on TV seem to make them funnier than if you just heard them say the word. Example: Last night on a Daily Show special, they were playing a "report" done on a football high school kid with a huge head, too big to find a helmet for. An interview with the coach produced "he actually has a head one inch larger than any head in the NFL."

Switch to serious anchor-voice again with dramatic music: "Holy sh!t..." and the sh!t being bleeped obviously. Made me laugh my ass off, but if they had just said the word, it probably wouldn't have been funny.

Am I crazy? I'm in a strange mood tonight, can't type very well.
