Definitely written by Anti-Potheads for Anti-Potheads. Its a pretty dangerous thing when you begin to believe your own propoganda. Not to mention the fact that its all written on such a juvenile level, they're obviously targeting kids who don't question things and/or ignorant people who demand no scientific backup.

Its only redeeming factor is that nice botanical photo front and center :)

Here is a better site, one that gives the truth, both good and bad, about nearly everything. http://www.erowid.org/

There was an interesting article in the newspaper this morning about research on pot use in Europe. It turned out that the biggest group of pot users aren't the leftist hippies, but young, succesful, stressed managers. The typical rightist group :D

Skyclad:

Very true, one of the largest (and most responsible) groups of marijuana users are adults in high-stress jobs/environments. Not everyone who smokes pot is a teenaged burnout, ya know ;).

Genesis 1 verse 12 King James Version
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

If you go to the "AS SEEN ON TV" section, you can watch the commercials. I like the one where the girl is getting all fux0red up, and the guy takes advantage of her because she is smoking dope....

I never said it did.
But, technically, and off topic of this thread, he can be part of State Government, just not the Federal Government.

Hey, we all know the bible is so vague as to be interpreted pretty much any way the reader wishes. You can use it to justify almost anything if you try hard enough.

I know.
Free speach, especially sarcasm directed at the Government, actually makes it better and is important to do.

meh. Why do so many people care about what other people do in the privacy of their own homes?
As you would have other people butt out of your private business, butt the hell out of others' private businesses.

As for Nik, he has some serious issues.

I'm not completely anti-drugs like nik, it just bothers me how far people go. You can enjoy yourself every once in awhile, just don't overdo it and fry yourself. If I have to deal with another prospective student who has the attention span of a dog because of drugs, I'll st*b myself (apparently substituting the * with an "a" constitutes a banned word;)).

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_effects.shtml

actually, i think the negative effects are basically non-present - so here's my version (what i experience):

POSITIVE:
mood lift
relaxation, stress reduction
creative, philosophical or deep thinking ... ideas flow more easily
increased appreciation of music. More aware of, deeper connection to music.
increased awareness of senses. (eating, drinking, smell)
change in experience of muscle fatigue. Pleasant body feel. Increase in body/mind connection.
pain relief (headaches, cramps)
reduced nausea (used medically for this)

NEUTRAL:
general change in consciousness (as with many psychoactives)
increased appetite, snacky-ness
slowness (slow driving, talking)
tiredness
blood shot eyes (more common with certain varieties of cannabis and inexperienced users)
mouth dryness
interrupts linear memory. Difficulty following a train of thought.

NEGATIVE:
"mild" withdrawal symptoms occur after daily use in some users. These may last for 1-6 weeks after cessation of use and can include anxiety, anhedonia (reduced experience of pleasure), headaches, general unease/discomfort, difficulty sleeping, and a desire to smoke pot.

Use anything too much and it has bad effects on your life. Marijuana isn't some kind of ticket to hell. In any case, try it to see for yourself, or don't - whatever. Complaining and trying to make assessments with no experience though is rather stupid. I've done it a couple times (pot - not complaining and trying to make assessments with no experience :p). Didn't have any adverse affects on me, and hasn't ruined my life or any of my friends. Perhaps the reason the person is doing it makes more of a difference.

That's ok for immediate affects, but what about long term or physilogical damage? You can't just make your own decisions about those by just trying it.

I'm not saying anything pro or con, just pointing out that some research never hurt.

I love how when it's something you support, it's a "cause".

If it's something you don't support, it's "propoganda."

Grow up.

I vote for pot.

If you don't smoke pot, that's fine. Just don't try to make it illegal for me to keep an open mind. I don't try to make it illegal for you not to smoke pot.
