For the time being, I have a very expensive (for me) PC sitting like a big rock. I had a GTX 1070 many years old and it seems that anything affordable that beats it in real-world applications are few and so a problem.

I'd love a card that outperforms my old one but with new ones coming out, is there a chance of getting one? What do people think will happen to the price of the older cards?

I am uninformed about such things and would be grateful for any wisdom tossed my way.
 
These cards are significantly more powerful than older cards but if this is anything like the NVIDIA event, the only cards that will be revealed will be more than $500 (and that is surely not my cup of tea). Call me old fashion but I like the price point of $250.
