It wouldn't 'just work' but it would be a lot better than McCain/Palin.

The feasibility of this ever happening is slim to none, but there is some merit in the concept.

I hate to say it, but of all the candidates, Biden is sounding the most Presidential...Obama, while a dynamic speaker and perhaps a visionary, has yet to display the qualities we expect of a leader...I was very impressed with Biden's mastery of the issues last night...he rarely gravitated to canned talking points or sound bytes...he articulated his responses in the manner I would expect a leader to...it seems unfortunate that the Obama-Hillary circus distracted from the other candidates, because Biden gave an amazing performance last night...Biden didn't rely on the change sound byte...he actually gave tangible examples, and I hate to say it, but his positions sounded almost moderate...if Obama/Biden deliver on the vision he communicated last night, what we will witness is a slightly left leaning Presidency.

As for Palin, I am not convinced she is ready for prime time, but she impressed me that, given her limited experience, she was able to stand toe to toe with a seasoned Senator...despite all the rhetoric leading up to the debate, Biden should have cleaned the floor with Palin...she actually held her own, although I think Biden was the stronger debater. So while McCain's choice of Palin was perhaps a gamble, I do not think she is the idiot many on this board want to believe she is.

Everyone obsessed over Obama/Hillary or Hillary/Obama...after last night's debate, the ticket should be Biden/Obama.

A logical, well thought out level headed post on P&N. I'm amazed......

I predicted this response way in advance. The reason Palin didn't look like a moron is that the debate was so strictly controlled that all she had to do was memorize her lines and regurgitate them. She didn't stand 'toe to toe' with Biden, unless you count having one arm tied behind your back.

Notice in the Couric interviews that Palin did fine until Couric pressed her for details/follow up questions. That's when she fell apart. That being said, expectations for Palin were so low that she really couldn't miss.

And when she didn't have an answer to a question, she simply kept talking about a previous question, or some other talking point that had nothing to do with any question.

As long as she doesnt get pressed for details, she's fine. She's very capable of repeating a talking point, but it's doubtful that she understands most of them.

The ticket could not be other than it is. Only Obama could bring Biden to the fore. The public couldn't and wouldn't see what Obama can see until he showed them via his nomination of Biden to be his VP. Only now can many appreciate how good he is.

I would counter that your response is the predictable one...most Obama/Biden supporters were hoping for Palin to implode or falter, and that did not happen...so now the talking point will be one of semantics in terms of who set the bar for the debate...if I recall, both Obama and Biden have been talking up Palin's debating skills in an attempt to RAISE expectations on her...she went in under low expectations against a formidable opponent, and held her own...sure, the format played to her strengths, but Biden also tends to gaffe when going into unscripted or unrehearsed territory...as VP candidates, they both did their job well.

The ticket could not be other than it is. Only Obama could bring Biden to the fore. The public couldn't and wouldn't see what Obama can see until he showed them via his nomination of Biden to be his VP. Only now can many appreciate how good he is.
Obama gains more Messiah powers with every passing day. :D

Is this going to be a 'thing' now? Where if you think someone's a moron suddenly you have some syndrome? Looks like all the people who hated Bush were right on the money, and so far the people who think Palin's a moron seem to have it pretty well locked down too.

Don't try to read more into it than you see ...... I mean what I say.
By the way, I am not a McCain supporter ........ I just don't have a hatred for all things or people on the right.
You don't think it's a syndrome? What else could it be?

Check our this thread, if you haven't already. It explains it nicely, I think, and is, again in my opinion, one of the most important threads to be seen here in a while.

Poor taste. Probably doesn't have anything to do with the pent-up frustration caused by the current admin. and its followers.

This aside, he is correct.

Her strengths?!. If you mean her strengths are reading cue card talking points and acting like a Elli Mae Clampet. What are her strengths?, I'm sorry, I just don't see any. Am I missing something here, what are they?.

I don't understand why no one, except Katie Couric, actually asks her questions that would require her to think on her feet. The job of president, even the job of VP, requires one to be in difficult one-on-one situations and think on your feet. After the Katie Couric interviews it was clear they would never, never let her answer a question alone or one that was not scripted, again.

Palin's performance shows how far our standards for leadership have fallen when an utterly mediocre performance is considered to be an improvement over her past appearances. Most viewers expected Palin to implode and sputter. The fact that Palin didn't does not mean she was successful. Especially when Palin said little of substance the entire night - just talking points drowned in wink and nod folksiness. Palin overplayed her down home "soccer mom" card so much that she made George W. Bush look like a stuffy intellectual. Palin was so folksy it was like watching a banjo with glasses.

Can you imagine a head of state being addressed in that aw-shucks ain't-I-cute ex-beauty queen, wink-wink manner of hers?. I can't imagine her folksy you betcha's getting her very far in confrontations witn Putin or other world leaders.

She doesn't understand the basic separation of powers in our government; she seemed to think that she could "preside" over the senate and shake things up because the VP "presides" - like a mother hen. She thinks Dick Cheney did a good job redefining the powers of the VP - but even Cheney knows he can't go sit in the Senate every day and "shake things up" Maverick style.

She's a dangerous candidate, and McCain's judgment in picking her is wildly off-base.
