I have this team case due for networking class tomorrow. I'm supposed to determine what is the best way to connect three locations of a company, spread over the world. Each location has a plant for making boiler parts, as well as offices for designing the parts, part distribution, and sales. Each workstation at the locations are connected at 10Mbps, with the connection between floors at 100Mbps. What's the best way to connect these locations? I'm thinking T1,T3,etc. Thanks

OC 192 baby, yeah! in all seriousness, though, it sounds like a fairly large company, so you might want to try T3 if they are going to have a large amount of interconnectivity, but if its just going to be email type stuff without a lot of files, try a dual T1(if costs permit). also, if they are on a smaller budget it limits your choices to basically a T1 and the necessary equipment

The correct answer is - VPN. A company should not waste their money renting a worldwide T1 or T3 unless it is the core of their business. Let traffic go down a T1 to a provider with an OC3 using VPN to secure the network traffic. Each division in a seperate company should select the provider which is suitable to their size and needs.

VPN would be too slow because of all the encryption etc. Point to Point would be the best way. A friend of mine hooked up a company in San Diego to London with Point to Point.
