I got the logitech wireless... it started acting funny.

i found out it was some old sticky soda on the plastic bridging a connection.

Took it completely apart, ran each part under hot water, which cleared out most of the gunk.

Wiped it all off with a clean towel, did the same for all they keys (much hotter water this time).

Put it back together. The biggest pain is lining up the plastic sheets again.

Works brandy new. And cleaner than ever.

Just my 10 cents

Here's what I do, that doesn't require taking the keyboard apart. You do have to unplug it from the computer though, obviously. :)

  1. 1. Airblast the keyboard to get rid of all loose dirt and gunk stuck under and inbetween keys.
    2. Take Rubbing Alcohol and a Q-Tip and work inbetween the keys.

It's always worked well for me. :)

I spilled some coffee into my keyboard and I had heard you could put it in the dishwasher, but I didn't want to. I rinsed it under teh kitchen faucet and let it dry the full 24 hours in all positions, upside down, angled, right side up. It's not working :(

Any ideas?

I tried the dishwasher method today. The keyboard works and looks like new.

I took the keyboard apart and only put the top section into the dishwasher. I made sure it was dry and put it all back together. There are ten screws on the back of this one but it was easy to get everthing lined back up correctly.

I did turn the heat dry option off and only used the fine china cycle.

I just put mine in the dishwasher top rack, and let it go on normal without soap. No dry cycle. No removing the keys. Once it is out of the machine, I place a 12" fan blowing on the keys for 12 hours or so. Been doing it once every two or three months on my keyboards for more than 5 years, never once had a problem. Always looked and worked like new. Microsoft keyboards always, and no wireless. I wouldn't try this with a wireless keyboard.

I did this once with a black DELL quiet-key keyboard and it royally screwed it up. Somehow, The detergent stripped away the natural lubricity of the plastic keys and turned it into one big key-sticking mess. Looked great though ;)

Hmm...Probably where I went wrong with the DELL keyboard. I'll have to try it sometime without soap.
