this topic is not simple when we consider the unknown anme brands that are just as good or better quality than the name brand ones. looking in the 100-200 dollar range that encompasses the numer of MP and all else.
thanks

If you don't care about pq then any camera will do for you. If you do care, get one of those Canon SD series cameras. Dell has them on sale a lot and the sd450 usually go for about $200--.

That pentax slr for 350 is probably the best deal - check hot deals. It is >>>>> better than the point and shoot. Only negative is if you are looking for osmething pocketable. But the noise factor (or lack of) really makes it shine. I realize you said $200 but the quality really makes it worth the extra $$$.

what you guys think of the fuji finepix series...the a500 is a 5 megapixel camera that can be had for about 119.

Try not to get too hung up on the Megapixel rating. Theres plenty of cameras that take ass-quality photos at a high resolution.

My 5MP Sony F-717 takes excellent photos. In fact, if I needed a pic bigger than 2560x1920 (which I cant imagine) I would feel safe in enlarging it because its so good. But with many of those budget 7 and 8 MP cameras, you have to scrunch them down really small just so you wont notice all the garbage. Possible pixelation too, if its a really poor camera.

what dyou guys think about the dimage x60?

or even these: Canon PowerShot SD400 Nikon Coolpix S1 Olympus IR-300 Sony DSC-T33

Should be able to find a Canon SD630 for <$300. At that price point, I don't think there's a better camera around.

ok guys, i really like the look of the EX-Z600 and the sony DSC-W50. the casio just looks so sleek but awnt to know if its worth the cash.
if anyone can give usefull data about these it would help greatly.
