The best portable mp3 player?

Any recommendations? I'm talkin about non-cd mp3 players...things that are cheap, lightweight and small, with LOTS of memory...i've heard good things about the iPod...

the ipod is the last i would call cheap... i've seen 10gig version for like $320ish, but yeah it is definitely the one to get if you can get afford it.
it kinda depends on how much you're willing to spend and whether you're looking for hard drive based or not.
i like iriver products, personally i own the slimx (cd/mp3), and it works wonders. the ifp-190t is also very small, lightweight, and 256 megs.
there's also the creative muvo which is quite small as well, but i don't like creative all that much... that's just my opinion though

i used to own a RioPMP very similar to the new RioOne...i like Rio products a lot but they are pricy...

i just want a gig of music in a portable player for under 150 bucks, is that too much to ask 🙂 ?

most of them sounds the same, especially for those with well-know brand such as Creative and Rio. Cheaper brands do sounds good but the earphones are terrible. If you want to buy a cheaper brand, get a better earphones. I tried Creative MuVo, Creative NOMAD jukebox and the old Diamond Rio.. all sounds great 🙂 now, I have this one called 'magic star' it's good enough with 256MB memory for about $125 i guess (i forgot)... well, I need that as a portable storage device.. hehe...
