The best MIDI solution for a laptop?

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron laptop and the sound card isn't up to doing what I need for my music classes.

Any ideas on how I can get my laptop MIDI ready.
I have a MIDI keyboard that I need to connect it to.
Would the SB Extigy be for me?
Any other products out there?
I need it to be professional quality.

Any ideas?

I use a M-audio Midisport Uno (USB) with my notebook. http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=usbmidiinterfaces
It should run about $40.

If you also need to upgrade your digital audio, the Tascam US-122 (http://tascam.com/product_info.php?pid=253) has MIDI as well for $200.
