The best laptop manufactures

I am looking to spend 2k-3k dollars on a new laptop. I have been looking at some laptops from:

Alienware
Voodoo PCs
Ibuypower
Falcon Northwest

Are there any other top manufactures out there that make great laptops that I have missed?

Those companies all OEM their laptops from the same companies in Taiwan. Their laptops are gamer-oriented "desktop replacements" that are big on performance but not really "portable" (bit short on battery life and are heavy).

If you are a gamer, go for it. If you are looking for a truly portable laptop for use in an academic or business environment, look elsewhere like IBM, Dell, Fujitsu, etc.

HTH.

Um, what he said 😉
But yes, those companies you listed are on the top level of gaming laptops. Also take a look at this article, it has good info on how to buy the OEM laptops that the companies you listed order 🙂

In support to what fbrdphreak said, check out ABS, they have really good service, and you can get a lot more for your money.

It's the dark secret about laptops. All laptop manufactures order parts form Taiwan and assemble them on the other side of the globe. Look into Dell, IBM or Sony
