The best Internet company to buy hardware from?..

Looking to buy some hardware (CPU, motherboard, videocard, etc).
What's a good Internet company to buy from?

Criteria:

1). Reasonable prices
2). Accept returns without giving you trouble or charging huge restocking fees
3). Friendly and polite Customer Service (not just over the E-mail)

Please post your experiences, etc. ResellerRatings.com mostly lists bad experiences - but I want to know the good things, too.

I can't believe you didn't mention Newegg. They have some of the absolute lowest prices on the web. You can only order online with them, but the CSRs were always very helpful when I spoke with them. If you want to return something then you won't have to pay the 15% restocking fee if you order something else of roughly the same cost.

I read some pretty terrible info about NewEgg's returns handling on Reseller Ratings - like they take a few weeks to ship the motherboard back, etc.. But yes, a lot of responses were good.

Do you think they may be selling refurbished or returned products as new, that's how they manage to have such low prices? (Just a thought, don't hurt me)

another vote for newegg. refurb? i agree with renob, they clearly say if it's new or refurb. they have the lowest prices and fast shipping.

Well, if they are, they are breaking the law. And if they pull that crap with me, they'll be treated just like Buy.com was when they told me the sound card I ordered--and they "misplaced"--was an "uncancellable" order. Uh-huh. The FTC disagreed with those scumbags.

whoeveryouare,

But what if they (not Newegg but a company in general) charge your credit card, and then tell you "the product is back-ordered", then wait for a few weeks, don't return E-mails, etc? Can you get the money back directly from the credit card company? Or do you have to get the seller to agree to refund the money?

Credit card companies are remarkably helpful when it comes to recovering money from bad retailers. The seller does not have to agree to refund your money, you'll get it back anyway.

I go to PriceWatch.com often, but the companies on the first 2-3 pages of search results have THE WORST ratings on ResellerRatings.com, and problems people encountered seem very serious.

I'm surpirised that BizRate.com can have 8.0 rating on a company, but ResellerRatings.com would have 2 or so (out of 7).. Can't trust anyone nowadays!

P.S. I used to buy from the extremely professional and friendly TCcomputers.com, but Insight.com bought them or something, and now they are 20% overpriced 🙁

** Good news, I E-mailed NewEgg.com tech-support asking if the cooling fan I buy from them will fit into Epox 8K7A that they sell. They responded 2 hours later (whoa dude!) and said that I can return it if it doesn't fit.

Whoa!

NEWEGG.COM...some prices for some hardware may be cheaper elsewhere...but if you're buying a complete system...newegg's prices will be the cheapest.

Another vote for Newegg. Somehow I fried a 1.4 Ghz Tbird that I bought from them. I requested an RMA number but I figured that they wouldn't take it back since it was more or less my fault that the chip was ruined. However, They approved the RMA, I sent it back, and they shipped me a new Tbird the next day!. Good company.

Yep, Newegg rocks when it comes to RMA. I had a bad Radeon, sent it to them on Friday (I live on the east cost), they got it Monday and I got my replacement Friday. Seven day turnaround is absolutely amazing!
