I've done it 20, 30 times. I know there are no mobs here. I'm in no danger, yet its the scareiest creepiest moment in comperter gaming ever. A great time to trim the hairs on the back of your neck because they will be standing stright up. This game is pure genus. Heres an interestiong thought doom 3 tryes to be scary yet it falls short by most everybodys measure yet this game (this sequence in pirticular) is frighting to the extrieme. Even when you know there are no mobs here. Its pue genus. To have this replay value and still get this effect. I really like this game, I really do.

. . . He's angry . . .

That Haunted Hotel quest is one of the best sequences I have ever seen in any computer game. Granted, its all old tricks, but they did a terrific job putting them together. Damn you Activision!

wow, really? According to alot of reviews on the game, it suppose to be mediocre. But i think i'll give it a try.

Most of the game was very good, except for the sewer combat section. At least the combat sections on your way to kill whomever you decided had a more frenzied feel.

Yeah I don't wanna play the game but wouldn't mind seeing some footage.

It wouldn't have the same feel. :p

Go buy and play the game.

i'd set 'Thief - Deadly Shadows' "Shalebridge Level' against ANY videogame level for "creepy" - set in a haunted orphanage turned mental hospital now abandoned . . . it is horror of the highest level and it succeds by what it implys rather that what 'jumps' in your face. . . . kinds like the exorcist's horror.

i haven't played Bloodlines yet . . . it is buggy and still isn't bargain bin. :p
(i'm also waiting for KotOR 2 to go bargain bin}

Shalebridge was good. But so is the Painkiller orphanage level and Bloodlines haunted hotel. Bloodlines is more like the first part of Shalebridge, the real scary part. Shalebridge loses something when you get into the second part, at least until the end.

There is another great quest line in Bloodlines, the one about the video tape that shows people supposedly getting killed by gremlin-esque monsters. Man, that was a freaky quest.

I remember when I was telling a friend about Bloodlines and I summed it up by stating that it basically takes a jab at every single type of horror. Theres the zombie invasion graveyard, the psychiatrists house, the old sewers that pre-date nearly everything in the city, the haunted hotel, the slasher murders, the freaky monsters/hellraiser routine. They really just did an extremely great job on a lot of the quests and giving them themes. The sewers were probably my favorite, because of how they were sectioned off and each section had a theme to it that really gave you a great idea of the date, I also liked the ambient voices during the sewers.

PK's orphanage level is just sick. :p
unless you like killing little kids . . . well demon kids . . . but still. . . . :Q

the 2nd 'weird' part of Shalebridge i "accidently" finished so quickly that i didn't notice any drop in quality . . .

anyway, when Bloodlines hits $19.95, i'm all over it. :)

Yea, it is pretty sick, but a kid running at you crying with a blanket over it's head is kind of scary. Especially when you find out they explode when they get near you. I've never run around a table to get away from children before.

RPGs aren't my kind of game...especially ones with clumsy controls and bugs.

That said, I agree that the haunted oceanside hotel in Bloodlines was the absolute scariest and best done sequence I've ever experienced. Especially if, like me, you got turned around a couple times and found all the terrifying little details of what went on there.

Bloodlines was disappointing on most counts, but I will say that it has the best characters I've seen in a while - great facial animations, scripts, and voice overs. Unfortunately, it turns into another stupid FPS towards the end where you're required to hack through endless mobs. The dumbing-down of games and media in general as of late is remarkable and very noticeable.

I haven't even finished the game. I was on some mission in a warehouse and my character got stuck INSIDE a door and couldn't move. I thought, screw it, I'll wait for the first patch and then play it. :) :)

Get the unofficial patch from fileplanet, it is the closest you will ever get to another patch and in some ways is better than an official patch.

Eh.. it wasn't bad, but I think something like System Shock 2 was creepier. It didn't help that in VTM: Bloodlines I played as the loner animalistic clan (already forgot the name) so I used protean a bit and the effect negates darkness and also covers a lot of the 'scary sounds' with that hum. I did like the picture that the kid drew of her parents tho. The mission itself was entertaining, but, like I said, I definitely think SS2 was a lot ceepier. The mission earlier in the crazy dude's house was pretty creepy too, but also a lot of fun with all the puzzles, etc.. just the voice on the recording was kinda creepy. On the topic of VTM: Bloodlines as a game tho, eh, not too impressed. It's not terrible, but I liked VTM: Redemption a lot better (until you went into present day, that was lame (I understand necessary for the whole universe, but guns = lame) .. the medieval was so much cooler). The characters are pretty cool tho, very lively. I feel that the dialogue is pretty trite at times, but I suppose that's just the feel the game has, I still enjoy it. Man, if only I were digital, I'd hang out with VV quite a bit. ;)

I'm going to give Bloodlines a shot, but TheVrolok hit the nail on the head with System Shock 2, that was one awesome game, and imho the best First Person RPG ever. After you're about an hour into SS2, you see your first "ghost" on the ship, and it was the scariest moment I've ever had playing a video game. I remember lurching back from the monitor and emptying half a clip of ammo at where the ghost appeared. Two years later, replaying the game, exact same thing... Good times.

Of course, now I'm depressed that video games nowadays are all crappy designed for consoles sh$t and fine products like SS2 don't get high sales numbers and there'll probably never be a SS3.

thief 3's orphange level was pretty fricking creepy when I played it. bejebus, when I reached the attic and the little kid appeared, I pressed the esc key immediately. The zombie levels from the first thief was pretty creepy too.

I loved the Haunted Hotel and I really did think that it was scary.
Bugs and all, I really did like that game.
It's been awhile since I've thought about Vampires though. It's still not in the bargain bin?

IF you LIKE the thief zombies you will LOVE the 13 level expansion pak to Thief II - TX2 Shadows of the Metal Age . . . . as good as anything LG [eidos] produced

and Bloodlines [and KotOR 2] still aint bargain bin , , , , it takes a LOT lonjger for RPGs - even if they are buggy. ;)

I find your spelling pretty scary, won't bother with that game though :p
