Putting on a new pair of socks everyday, only costs $180 a year. Thanks Walmart (I dont actually do this, I did just buy 24 pairs for $12 though, I get to do it for one month)

I've thought about doing this (though never considered actually going through with it). Does Costco sell anything cheaper?

Glad to see I'm not the only one, I guess if you got them from costco, you buy a years supply and return them every year for replacements. JK

Only thing I found at costco.com was a 3 pack of ladies cashmiere socks for $70.

Sweet, what are some good places up on the NW side to get good beer?
We should just say f' it and get a group to go to the hop leaf

Well, to be honest, I am one of those people who can't stand congested urban areas so I try to avoid the city, I stick to the suburbs where parking is free and there are big parking lots. I hate street parking and I hate paying to park. (But I can deal with it every now and again)

The Yardhouse in Glenview has a HUGE selection of draft beers (as in, biggest selection in all of Illinois), and I hear the food is good too.

That being said ...
Within the city limits, one of these days I'd love to check out Goose Island's Wrigleyville or Clybourn Brewpub. I haven't been there yet even though I LOVE their beer.

(Though I am liable to complain about parking...)

Otherwise, a bit farther West there are two brewpubs in Schaumburg, (Prarie Rock, and The Ram (if it still Exists, The Ram is also in Wheeling & Rosemont or at least it was at one point in time, I am not sure if they are still in business though) and a brewpub in West Dundee (though that may be a bit too much driving as it's out past Elgin)
South Barrington has a couple of brewpubs, Palatine has a brewpub

There are a lot of brewpubs in Illinois, and you're pretty much 100% guaranteed to get good beer at any of them.

Yardhouse looks like a winner for sure, more draught beers the better

Generally, most days are good for me, though from now until Next Tuesday (the 9th), I'm carrying the primary pager for work, which means I need to be ready and able to drop everything I'm doing and either find a place where i can leech wireless access or plug in and VPN into work and get some stuff done. So,

How's a day after the 9th sound?
Also, if it's a weekday, I'm in the office until 5:30, but I could probably get to the pub by 6:00 or 6:15 (or any time on the weekend depending upon if I'm busy)

Wonder if other ATer's think they can maybe make it this time ....

i don't think that's quite it. ;)

uh, yeah, I think you're wrong about that being the best feeling in the whole world.

Being a programmer myself, I can appreciate your excitement about fixing something that was giving you a hard time, but I can think of a few things that produce a much better feeling!

Ya. Finally fixing a broken scripts feels great, but that came at the price of hours (maybe) of frustration. So I'm gonna have to go with "Lying on a grassy lawn, listening to soft music on a sunny day with a gentle breeze"

What if...
You had that same situation but you were getting a BJ at the same time...I think that might be the best feeling in the world.

I'd have to agree there. I love the feeling when I'm programming and I can't figure out what the #@$% is wrong with it, and I find its some stupid detail I miss and then BLAM, works perfectly.

Probably one of the best feelings I've had was at a 3-6 Hold'em table, I had pocket Aces, the guy next to me made his flush, and I finally busted the one guy at the table who kept raising and re-raising. I made my Aces Full by the river, won $160 pot. Not bad considering I started out with $60, and made $100 profit on one hand.

Although nothing topped winning $1000 from the $100 slot machine on my first pull at The Mirage, I ran out of the casino to the safety of the airport to avoid spending any of it.
