just got a logitech g27.
:)

is there a game with good physics that really emulates driving a stick... meaning you have to clutch in to shift, your car will stall if you let out the clutch too quick in 1st, etc.

if not, what's the next best title?

I'm not sure about those specific clutch\shift mechanics, but Race 07 (Race on) is extremely realistic and will probably simulate at least some clutch\shift behaviors.

I was actually looking to buy a g27 but don't play enough racing games to justify the cost :p

In GTR2 your car will stall if you don't have the clutch in and your RPMs drop too low. I believe in it you don't need to put the clutch in to upshift but when downshifting you do, and need to blip the throttle to match the RPMs or your engine will not be happy D:

Right here, GTR2. And correct you can upshift with no clutch is because those cars use sequential gearboxes, which use a dog clutch to keep all the synchros at speed. You can downshift without a clutch in them as well, but it's a bit trickier. I only have a G25 but I've mapped the clutch to a paddle shift button before to turn off the auto-clutch just for curiosity - I definitely wasn't slipping the clutch at all, just the tires.

NFS: Shift?

I haven't played it but I'd assume it's more of the same with better graphics since it from the people that made GTR2, GTR, GTL etc.

Hey from Fatwallet :p

iracing.com always sounds very cool, although I've never tried it because of the whole pay-to-play thing.
Other than that, as mentioned, the GT* games in general are good. GTR: Evolution is somewhat newer, really just an expansion to Race07, but it has a semi-active modding community - you'll find things like a conversion of the M3 from BMW's M3 Challenge, conversions of all cars from GTR2 and GTR: Legends, and even the Top Gear test track. For me (I have a G25), this is where I've spend most of my 'sim' time. Same as with all the games in this series, nothing else recreates the feel of actually being there quite as well.

There are other games that aren't strictly sims that are still fun - Need for Speed: Shift being one of them. I'd recommend Test Drive: Unlimited over that, though... The ability to drive a high-end car (both of these games have good selections) wherever you want - highways, back roads, mountain passes, city streets - even if it's not the most realistic game, it's still a lot of fun.

RPM is already plural! you dont need to repluralize it!

I had a blast playing Test Drive Unlimited with my G25. Shift requires engaging clutch, and cars will stall if you don't give it gas in gear. Reverse gear works too. I didn't expect an older game like it to support the G25 so well. Also the shift control will automatically adjust when you switch from a manual car to a paddle shift car like the Enzo. Though an older game, at 1080p with 4xAA and everything max it still looks very good.

GTR2 when I want some realistic race simulation. rFactor comes with the wheel but I haven't tried it yet. I know these 2 games have tons of stuff you can download from the fan sites.
