Hi fellas,

I got a couple of questions for ya to consider before giving me a recommendation:
1) I am considering buying a new Burner (my 4x POS is pissing me off)
Which burners in your estimation give the best performance in CloneCD when copying the various Safedisc protections, etc..........

2) What is the time differnce between burning a 74min cd at 12x and 16x?

3) What is a good cdr hardware review website? i have looked at cdrinfo.com
its not bad
what else is there?

thanks in advance

get one with burnproof. Those are usually plextor or tdk 12x and up.

Check out some of the reviews either here or here. Both of these sites usually test the drives with CloneCD to see how they read/write with different copyright protections. The first one usually has a good summary at the end of the article.

You can also break into your own car if you "locked the keys in"
but you dont usualy post asking for the best equipment to do so in a forum that trys to keep things on the up and up

You walk a fine line asking about backing up CD's

ya people, enough about the pirated crap! I'm sure everyone has made a backup of some software in their lifetime! Also, why do you think blank cd's are soooo popular along with cd burners? hmmmm... i don't think it's to backup your files and HD 'cause that wouldn't take many cd's at all.

Now, back to your question. I think Yamaha 16x burner is a good one. I can't remember which one does safedisc2. If i remember i'll post a message again.

I believe there is a reason that many people on the board follow this attitude (not because they don't own a single piece of questionable software, no no no, their PCs (along with their conscience)are sparklingly white and shiny) but because it's based on a simple and popular Holier than thou stance. ;)

That is so much bull$hit, people around here are not usualy a$$holes but some tend to be so just ignore them. You have EVERY RIGHT to backup something that you OWN. And last time i checked you were inncocent until PROVEN GUILTY. So anyone that says "Backup.... Yeah right, Buy it" Can go and Fúck themselves until they can PROVE you were going to pirate. Personally i make 1 Bckup of software i purchase and then use the backup, then if i lose or scratch it im not out $50. And if i do lose or scratch it i just make another backup, no big deal, you have every right to do so. For those of you that say a CD lasts 75 years, i agree, as long as you lock it in a safe and never touch or use it. For those of us who actually use our CD's it will never last 75 years, i have some games on CD from the 486 days that i never really abused but are still getting scratched up pretty bad. and thats only 5-7 years ago. Havent you ever been to a LAN party? CD's can get lost/scratched up pretty easy there. Just leave the guy alone, let him ask his questions, and dont ACCUSE him of anyhting till you have PROOF.

Plextor 8/20 scsi copies safe disk 2, i have seen some in the fs/ft forum. Not sure if plextor still makes em.

Gpt no investment in software producers, so i really got no opinion on "copyright". If i buy it i figure i can do any darn thing i want to with it. ;)

The last time I checked the Phillps based burners seem to be the only ones that are inmune to SD2 protection. My 12/10/ Plexwriter will copy SD2 no problems but it can only be read properly with the Plexwriter.
