Whats the best one to use with CloneCD? It must read EVERYTHING, including the subconscious messages within CD's ;).

The Toshiba 12X and 16X are both very good for reading in CloneCD. The main drawback that has emerged recently with the 16X is that they only rip DVDs at 2X whereas the 12X doesn't have that problem. As for burners, the Acer 1208A is supposed to be able to write just about anything.

Go with the Toshibas and stay away from Aopen and Pioneer DVD drives. They can't read subchannel data.

If you have a high end burner that writes sub-channel data (plextor, etc..), then it also reads sub-channel data so your best bet is to use the burner for reading and writing when burning CD's.

I would get a quality DVD player that has a good rip speed and not worry about using it to copy CD's.

Just my 2 cents...
