What are you talking about? A video blog? Is anyone going to even watch it? If all you're doing is keeping a diary then don't go crazy spending lots of money. You can get a webcam for like $30.

If you're doing something professional then by all means say so and give a budget.

Logitech C920 + Blue Yeti USB Microphone. Good picture quality and you want a separate microphone that doesn't sound like crap (no, built-in laptop/webcam mic absolutely will not cut it if you want people to hear what you are saying).

I'll add that the camera is is not that important...but lighting is. Getting some decent lighting setup, THEN worry about the camera.

All of my vlogs I used a Logitech C910 webcam, iPad, iPhone, and iSight. I haven't tried my digital camera with built in 720HD video yet.

I second the lighting comment.

if you have $300, use your iPhone camera and buy $300 in lighting and backdrops.

epl1/2 or epm1[used ~$199, new ~$300] + olympus sema-1 [~$60] + zoom handy h1 [used ~$60, new ~$100]

budget for around $300 - 450

the epm1 has 1080p30 recording, the sema-1 comes with a mic thats sounds pretty good but the zoom had better sound and audio level controls.
