Jurrasic Park...it was one of the few in my life I actually read and remembered and enjoyed. :) That was the 9th grade though...6-7 years ago. :)

I don't read so much, but Half Asleep in Frog Pyjamas-Tom Robbins really stands out.

Norwiegian Wood by Murakami - perhaps not the best book I've ever read, but its definitely up there. His other novels are highly recommended as well.

Lucky Man: a Memoir by Michael J. Fox

Just a neat perspective on life.

Life's Greatest Lessons: 20 Things that matter

A lot of people read novels and scifi books, but fail to read books that can actually help them out in life like the one linked above. I implore anyone to read this classic.

The fact that you seem to think that novels cannot help you in real life just shows that you have learned very little. How adorably close minded.

This one's up there for me. One hell of a book - the original manuscript was over 1700 pages (and he wrote it in under 3 years).

Picking a favorite is difficult but I'd also list these as being up there:

snow by orhan pamuk (which I would argue is one of the most important books of our time)
My name is red by orhan pamuk
the crying of lot 49 by thomas pynchon
Music for torching by A.M. holmes
The atlas by william vollman
The book of laughter and forgetting by milan kundera

Hmm, I don't really read a whole lot but probably one of the Dark Tower books by Stephen King. I've only read 2 1/2 of them and I can't choose which one I like the best. The Gunslinger was pretty cool though.

i think that book is highly overrated

It was a good, easy read.
Better than crichton, but definitely overrated.

I will agree with this. There's a lot of scifi out there that is FAR better.
