I would like to know what it is, I have decided to hold off on the full upgrade and instead I am just going to replace one or two things and call it good till next year. Thanks.

best can apply to many things.. performace? price? value (price vs performance, or bang for $)?

what's best for a P2 400 is not what's best for an athlon 64 4000+; what's best for doom3... do i really need to go on?

Jesus, what are good video cards known for? Speed and performance, right? I have an Athlon 64 like I have mentioned before, not a P2 400. Is the X800 XT appreciably more powerful than a 6800 GT? Thanks again.

so we are supposed to search your old posts to see what type of system you have (and i'm not going to search to see what pr rating your cpu is)? or guess what's important? wtf is wrong with ppl nowadays.. ask for help, be specific so someone can...

is the x800xt appreciably more powerful than a 6800GT?

overall, not appreciably, but yes, a bit faster in general.

google "x800xt review" and it will give you dozens of links to various benchmarks comparing them, or try the "roundup" that has been posted in several posts the last few days:

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050524/index.html

(pcie cards are no faster than their direct agp counterparts)

X850XTPE is the best AGP and PCIe single card at the moment...but the AGP flavors are really rare and still are around $500...u can get a 6800U for about $400

That's what I needed to know, thanks.

EDIT: I think I might make the jump to X800XT from 6800 GT. My current card is a Leadtek and I get green dots on my screen from time to time. Also the card is huge and loud. Any recommendations for X800XT manufacturers?

aww that sucks you got a leadtek with that cooler... but the 6800gt is barely under the x800xt, but if want to spend cash its up to you. sapphire, powercolor... im not familiar with ati.

Hmm, if I keep the Leadtek I want to put a different cooler on it. Is that risky or fairly easy?

perhaps a silly question.. but have you contacted leadtek about this issue? certainly would not fall under the category of "normal operation" (intermittent green dots).

If I get anything from them it would just be another copy of the same model which I don't care for. Worth a try I guess. Do you know of any X800XT's that just have a heatsink like certain Gigabyte models? Those are really quiet from what I gather. Thanks.

Just wait until next gen...but the best card depends on what you want.

6800 ultra has SM3.0, X800s don't...other then that, they're about equal. So take your pick.

I wish there was an X800XL AGP passively cooled card. I would like to go with the NV Silencer 5 rev. 2, anyone used one before?

get the X850XT instead of the X800XT...they are very similarily priced...
however u can get a X800XT AIW in some places for under $350 such as Amazon, u might want to check there

Is the AIW slower than the regulat X800XT?

EDIT: I think I have found what I am after. Should I buy this now I wonder or wait until the fall when it might be cheaper? I really want it now, but I feel that way about all new hardware. One more thing, what do I do with the old card? I don't think there's anything wrong with it, the green dots hasn't happened again or even consistently, should I try and sell it?

no its exactly the same like the X800XT...slightly lower clocked that the X800XTPE. u can try to overclock it to reach PE speeds....not only do u get the same speeds of the X800XT but u get all the multimedia features....
