The best 8K7A+ raid setup

I have a problem. I have 2 Quantum fballs on each of the HPT370A IDE channels in a raid-0 stripe. I have tried installing the drivers that came with the motherboard and after running FDISK, I thought that I had it going, but when I try to run a program (Quake 3) from the stripe, it gets all sorts of read errors. I cannot run anything from this stripe, but everything works fine if I install it on the non-raid IDE drive that is also in the system. Starting from scratch, what is the best procedure for setting up a raid-0 stripe with 2 drives? Should they be on the same UIDE channel? What is the deal with these 4 in 1 drivers from Via? Do I have to install those? What program or OS should I use to partition and format the stripe? Thanks.
