The Best 2.1 Speaker setup ???

Looking to purchase a set of speakers for my computer soon & was wondering what everyone reccommends for under $200. ?

Everyone I've talked to says Klipsch Promedia 2.1 are the best , which run about $180.

Are there any other 2.1 setups that give Klipsch a run for thier money ?

Thanks 😉

Just bought mine last week and let me tell you the same thing. Am doing some serious jamming as I type. Awesome speakers!

Well, if you're going to throw out $200 for a 2.1 speaker system, you might as well get the Logitech Z560s for under $150. They're 4.1 and have really good reviews.

the Logitech Z560s are good...until u turn them up!! people have been blowing out their speakers and having problems when they turn up the volume really high. 🙂

get the s2 midiland 4100's. i have had mine for around 4 years....and they still sound AWEEESOME

Yeah, I own the v.2 400's (which are currently broken...but Klipsch tech support ia GREAT) and they flat out rock. Some say the midrange is lacking, but while I am surely no audiophile, I LOVE all types of music and games, and Klipsch makes AWESOME speakers.

CorCentral, for their price, Altec Lansing ATP3's, usually go for about 60 beans or so at the office supply stores, inexpensive and sweet IMHO.

Yea, I have the 2.1's and mine are broken also!!! I think it's the control pod. I'm not getting any sound out of the left speaker!:|:|

best 2.1 king under $200 goes to klipsch. but i have to agree with the others.. the z560s rock also. i got mine for $110 shipped from dell and the sound is incredibly clear and the bass is awesome. i haven't heard klipsch 4.1s so i can't compare them to those.

I bought a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1's about a year ago and was sorely disappointed. Admittedly a big part of it was the fact that I live in an apartment and the devastating bass was bothering the neighbors (even at moderate volumes), but even the sound quality was just not up to expectations.

The main problem was the harshness of the horn tweeters. I'm not an expert on speaker technologies, but from what I have heard horns are a rather outdated technology compared to "real" tweeters. Either way, the satellites can be downright painful even at moderate volumes.

So they weren't a good fit as PC speakers, but I figured why not hook them up to my PS2 (using a phono-to-RCA adapter) and use them for DVD's and PS2 games? Again they were just not satisfactory. When playing DVD movies, dialogue was WAY too quiet compared to everything else due to the poor midrange reproduction. To even understand the dialogue, I had to increase the volume to the point where sound effects were practically ear-shattering. Again, the balance just was not there.

Anyway, they ended up finally finding a home... in my car. I put the sub in the trunk and ran the wires to the sats in the backseat of my hatchback (240SX). Then I used my portable CD-player and a DC-to-AC transformer to power them. Of course, again the harshness almost became their undoing again... Until I covered them up with a cloth to "filter out" the highs, and FINALLY I found a place where they can be put to use.
