It all starts with seven women who are academically impaired. Next, add seven men who are brilliant but socially challenged. The concept is to pair up couples for a chance to win a $250,000 grand prize. Each mismatched pair competes in various activities designed to test intellect, fashion savvy and even dance moves. There's a spelling bee for the girls, massage lessons for the guys, and an introduction to actual rocket science when the girls compete to see who can build a working rocket. During these competitions, the geek must try to pass his brains onto the beauty, while the beauty tries to pull the game out of the geek. They're so far apart on the social spectrum that they're practically different species, but if they make it to the end, they could both walk away gifted and gorgeous.

Ashton Kucher cannot be explained by modern science. All logic says he should be waiting on tables somewhere, yet he won't go away and he hits Demi Moore on the daily

I had respect for Ashton Kutcher after "The Butterfly Effect". That level of respect is quickly going downhill.

He's actually a pretty bright guy... I think he majored in biochemical engineering.

Here are the reviews by the papers :

It?s a reality show created by Ashton ?Punk?d? Kutcher about fabulous young women who team with nerdy virgins to win a quarter million bucks. And the reality-hating critics are raving!

The Hollywood Reporter says:

At last, a reality show that smacks of something remotely clever and doesn't leave you feeling in need of a long, hot shower at the end. ? They open the show by introducing themselves, pairing off and getting to know each other - he hyperventilating in the company of such finely crafted estrogen, she struggling to understand what he's saying. The cruel twist: They must sleep in the same king-size bed. The torture clearly works both ways in this case. ? It's all very entertaining stuff ?

Variety says:

? silly and entertaining, if not one bit edifying ? many of [the geeks] seem fearful they'll be alone forever -- an undercurrent of real emotion that creates some accidental moments of seriousness in an otherwise flip program.

Entertainment Weekly gives it an ?A-minus? and says:
? executive producer Ashton Kutcher one-ups a well-tread genre by adding ? heart. The requisite reality TV humiliations manage to help these contestants gain what other shows rip away: self-esteem (and potentially $250,000). ?

USA Today gives it three stars (out of four) and says:

? Here's the shock: Beauty is sweet, funny and virtually humiliation free. Kutcher and Goldberg have dodged almost every one of the genre's negative hot buttons, and in the process they produced one of the summer's hot tickets. ? Though it may give you pause that our educational system can churn out a woman who thinks Herbert Hoover was president during the Civil War, it's nice to see her partner comfort her instead of insult her. And there's something endearing about watching a spontaneous celebration between a beauty and a geek over a state abbreviation or hearing a woman insist she's going to leave the show a better person than when she went in. ?

The Boston Herald says:

? this series has something missing from most reality competitions ? heart ? it's funny when 21-year-old Joe confesses, ?Yes, I'm a virgin. No, I'm not saving myself for anyone.? ? Both sides appreciate that they have much to learn from each other.

Yes, but, the problem is...

Our society values beauty and does not value intelligence. A bimbo who could sleep through life and still retire wealhty paired with a poor, loser nerd? She's trying to 'cool' him up and he's trying to make her smarter?

First off, one of these efforts is doomed to failure (you can always get more hip, you can't become intelligent if you are dumb as a brick to begin with, though....at least, not in the span of a TV season)

Secondly, who is the audience going to side with? Sees a pretty blonde and thinks "She's perfect, what's she doing on this show? So what if she's dumb, she doesn't NEED to be smart!" and compare that to the geek - which your typical TV viewer is going to have a natural aversion to, to begin with.

(IOW, I suspect most people will at least have the "gut reaction" that the bimbo is doing the geek a HUGE favor by appearing on the show with him, sleeping in a bed with him, and trying to help him be cool; whereas "the geek" is just wasting his time on her since his task is unnecessary - she's already as smart as she needs to be)

I tried watching it and couldn't last five minutes. Incredibly boring, plus a lot of the women weren't even 8 out of 10's. I give it two

I haven't seen it but the idea of geeks with babes (at least above average) sounds entertaining to me. I'll try to catch at least 1 ep somewhere...

That's not funny, that is pathetic.

Okay, i finally got around to watching the first two episodes.

Actually it's not a bad show.

The one thing that's BS though is that they say they went all over America looking for the hottest [dumbest] girls out there.

While they are hot, they are far from the hottest.
