Overclocked Orange

my machine would tear his up, in cost, watercooled, and performance. :p

But then again, i am the resident h2o expert on this forum.

I dont like how he paralell'd his gpu's.

I just checked the rulebook and it does in fact state that there can be more than just one enthusiast on the planet.

Its an interesting read, it goes on to further state that just because a person has a less than prefectly optimized overclocking rig that they, and their passion for tinkering with computers, is not lessened or diminished in any degree or capacity.

Finding value from the pursuit of perfection does not require the simultaneous act of devaluing those pursuits whose aim and goal fall short of perfection.

Nice setup, but I was expecting more than a 4.0 OC on the CPU. He has a 940, so I was thinking more like 4.2-4.4 on water. Definitely nice looking (assuming you like orange).

:)

True...

But i wouldnt want to show off publically a machine which wasnt "top" to a mass public like that tho.

This isnt a youtube video. :p BBS is kinda big.

Average person reading tha article will think thats the cream of the crop h2o system. Which however falls very short.

And what would be the harm in that?

So what if the average person learned a little more about the overclocking enthusiast world but didn't gain this knowledge from exposure to some uber l33t water gear?

Not everyone needs to go to MIT in order to have a legitimate education in engineering, plenty of people manage to get by with a simple 4yr degree from a state school.

Just because better exists doesn't mean that everything less is worthless.

And there are people in the NSA who'd feel the same about your H2O rig too if it were you in that BBC special. ;)

There's always someone out there with a bigger and badder rig than whatever we think we can find as the top-dog example.

What alternative layout is there?

I dunno, I kind of liked the article. Pretty nice little machine. It had a touch of character too, with the logo and all. Maybe it's not the fastest watercooled rig out there, but it seemed decent.

So far, I haven't made the jump to water, still kind of scares me. But I'm thinking that if I want to run my quad-GPU F@H rig, I might have to move to water if I run with four GPUs. I was running with four, but the top GPU was running at 96C for two weeks and burned itself out.

Bright affluent people already know Macs are the ultimate form of computing. I read about them on Apple.com, so I think I know a little bit about them to make a bold statement like this. The poor uneducated fellow could have saved so much time and effort if he had simply purchased a Mac.

but mac's are just intel's with Tiger OS installed. :X
They lost the "superior hardware" line when they fell to the darkside with intel.

Straight serial, or F paralell so he got more even flow across all 3 cards. However its almost near impossible to paralell a 3 card setup perfectly.

+1

You come of pretty strong sometimes aigomorla. Your advice is appreciated but we could do with a little less of the pec flexing.

Back OT- Kinda cool that a major network did an article on overclocking. Maybe they'll do a follow up with LN2 or phase.

The journalist probably edited out all the in-depth info the guy was giving and made it look like just a flash and give me the cash type report
