You could also install a laundry chute. You still have to walk down, but you can shove your clothes in a hole, and pick them up when you get downstairs.

Actually what OP describes isn’t that unusual in an old home, especially one built before public sewerage.
My Aunts house was very old and real small. Her only bathroom was accessed thru a closet. Push the coats to the side, open the bathroom door on the left wall of the closet, step into the bathroom.
It was a long time ago, I think there was a tiny tub on there.

I still think its some kid posting from his moms basement and making up stories about his fictional life.

Our old house was that way, bedrooms upstairs, laundry room downstairs. It was a PITA.

We moved into a one story and even here the laundry is far away from the master bedroom.

Ours is downstairs near the garage, honestly it’s not that big a deal. We probably do one load of laundry every other day or two.

Oh, and I never shit in the backyard.
