The Average MMORPG Gamer

normal.

I would say that there is a larger amount of huge nerds in this group than in other groups, but by and large I'd still say they are normal.

<-- does not play any MMO's

I was at a bar the other night and overheard these two guys at our table mention the word 'wow'. That could mean anything but I figured out they had just had a 2 minute conversation about WoW and I never would have guessed it. Hell, you would never guess that anyone I know who plays that game is a mmorpg player.

I think game companies have been marketing the games more and trying to make them more accessible to people. There is still a stigma attached to them but I think the player base will include far more normal people than in the days of Everquest. I remember knowing someone who had a roommate addicted to Everquest. He would need to get back to the game constantly and ignore all social interactions around him to focus on the game.

I play MMOs, so why would I be trying to "put a bunch of people down" for a gametype that I also play?

The reason I asked that question was because someone suggested a game for me to play (Silkroad, in fact) because the game "fits" me, and I was curious to know what he meant by that.

Normal people. Hell, my highschool football team got me into Ever Quest. I was in a guild with the class favorite (we played soccer togeather). In college it's the same way. Alot of my friends on the baseball team play WoW. With as many subscribers as it has there can be no generic type.....unlike the original EQ RPers...NERDS!!!!!
