The Athlon64 Mobile

Has anyone seen a review where they compare the AMD64 Mobile to desktop version like they do with the Dothan from that other company..? and since it fits into a 939 socket, does that mean it will work on all mobo's..

Best regards MightyB

dothan got reviewed cos it's new technology. a64-m's are no different than the desktop versions. they run at lower voltages, hence lower power dissipation/consumption.. that's the only difference. also.. there is no desktop version of the dothan, although i wish there were.. it's strictly notebook.

Hmm, so there will be no difference in putting a AMD64 3400+ mobile in my shuttle instead of a normal AMD64 3400+? This way I would not loose performance and keep the temp. down as well..? They are even priced very close..and both on stock!

Best regards

well, not really. the desktop cpu's the notebooks use are DTR, meaning desktop replacement. from what i hear, they are engineered to be able to withstand hotter temps.

Im unaware of any 939 mobile A64's. The 754 mobiles work in some motherboards but wont work in others. It's a matter of the board recognizing the proper multiplier and voltage. Performance wise the mobiles are the same as any other 754 A64 with the same speed and cache.
