Oh no, they brought back my character!
*Slashes wrists*
So I got into WoW around late 2005. I played it a lot for about a year, with considerable mal effects on my social life and grad. school grades. By late 2006, I was making some attempt to quit. I'd stop playing for a month, but invariably I'd come back. I'd uninstall it, and I'd come back.
Finally in March/April 2007 - with steely resolve - I deleted my level 67 Warlock, level 50 Shaman, and other miscellaneous characters. That was the only way I could do it, because I knew I could never bring myself to sell my account.
I managed to stay away from WoW. But then recently I bought a Mac. For some reason as a kid, I remembered seeing tons of Mac games at Best Buy and other places. But these days there's hardly any, even though Mac is seemingly more popular than ever. Anyway, according to Amazon the best selling game for Mac is Diablo 2. I go to Best Buy, and about the only thing I can find that will (also) run on a Mac is Diablo 2. So I pony up money for the game, even though I've seen and done it 8 years ago, and long since lost my CD's... I just really want something to test the gaming capabilities of my Mac.
With Diablo 2 though, comes a trial DVD for WoW. I can't believe I installed it, but I was so tempted to just dip my foot back into the World of Warcraft. So I make some goofy NELF warrior and mess around in the nooby zone, quickly getting bored my level 2. I see some level 60+ zoom by. God damnit, that used to be me! Then in another moment of weakness, I petition the GM for "deleted character". That's it. That's all I did. I waited maybe a minute, before I knew I had to get out. So I quit WoW, delete my new newbie character at the same time. So I thought that was the end of my WoW saga. I delete the WoW shortcuts on my desktop, but I stay just shy of deleting the game because I'm honestly not sure how uninstalls happen on Macs.
I check my email today, and there's a note from Blizzard. They've restored my level 67 Warlock!!!!!!one!!1! Without me even telling them the name! With the character having been dead for over a year! Without me even waiting around for the GM! Of course I immediately log back in, and I see my Warlock there. I log in and summon my Dreadsteed mount.
God, this is so painful! I'm working 80 hour weeks now. I can't be adventuring in the WoW. But I can't kill my beloved Warlock twice either.
