I only have one. Sorry. :(

Darn :(

I wish I could write an essay to Blizzard with why I'm an ideal candidate (multiple betas under my belt, including classic WoW) :p

I'd just say that I've been professionally trained in proper software testing (and they get this for free!) not to mention multiple betas of varying MMOs including WoW.

A quick question - I saw a video where a rogue was testing out some wolk talents. All his swords strikes created trailing special effect. What addon are those do you guys know?

I don't even think that addons are capable of doing that. Developing addons is limited to only certain segments of the UI code and what you are describing is not considered the UI. I can't say what it is that you actually saw though without the video and I do not have a rogue to test with on the beta server unfortunately.

I believe the changes to chain potting and multiple healthstones has something to do with a "change" in direction for raiding/bosses etc for WotLK. I was discussing this with some guildies so this may seem a little out there. Anyhoo.. I think with WotLK, those fights that "would" have required the usual chain-potting, Healthstone spammming, consumable using etc etc will be a thing of the past. If you check out some of the talent changes, you'll see a lot more "mitigation" type talents, talents and skills that save people from dying, spread out more heals, reduce damage to the group raid. Hell, Pallys have some whacked changes which could make it possible to have a 5 min "Shield Wall" (using Divine Shield).

All I'm saying is that Blizzard is changing a lot of core mechanics that we're all used to. Tanking Warriors are now going to use more "attack power" based threat. Casting Classes will utilize Spirit more. Maybe they're working out a system where you get more Spirit based mana regen then in BC.. more passive regen throughout the fight or better synergy.

At least they better fucking be doing something like that.. cause I chain-chug fucking Ironshield Potions on a daily basis :p :p

potion sickness- after taking a potion of basicially any kind you cannot take another one untill you leave combat

and yes i chug mana pots like its my job, warlocks GG being the most mana inneficient class, and before anyone says just life tap, its a massive DPS loss, and we are allready getting beaten down DPS wise

same with making healthstones unique,no longer can you have 1 of each kind, its 1 HS period

I mentioned it a couple days ago but it didn't seem to get much traffic.

I've always said that I think nothing but end games raids should require a cetain class and/or a certain spec. And to make the game better, if even those situations didn't require such that would be an improvement.

If these changes are made on that basis, then it's a good change for the game.

If it's some dev tweaking the 1 on 1 esque combat of the arenas, I hope they shoot that idioit.

I do remember the old days of raids where guilds would spend hours farming for stuff so they could give an entire raid flask and suck to power through content to get gear first and worry about the finesse of completing the encounter as designed later.

we only ever provided flasks for tanks in old wow. even farming mats for Loatheb, the most consumable heavy fight in the game WAS NOT that hard and did not take that long

currently nothing other then Sunwell requires massive potting, 10 mans require nothing in the form of consumables

should the design content so you dont have to chain pot to beat it: YES
should they let those that want to be able to chain pot fo it: yes

Can't use pots in Arena anyway :p.

That sounds kind of lame though... I'd really have to look at abilities to see how worthwhile that will be, but maybe that'll make mage armor more popular than molten armor :Q.

You and your guildies are on the right track and this essentially the same argument I presented my guild with. Potion sickness is not so much a nerf as it is a method of balancing out all of the other changes they are making especially when it comes to the design of raid bosses and talents. I am willing to bet if they just left potion sickness out of the picture but changed everything else just like they are currently planning then everyone would believe that the use of potions throughout a battle would make most encounters way too easy to be enjoyable.

I think priests will be not too bad off with the +10% to holy concentration (also causes you to gain 60% spell haste for next 3 heals), serendipity (returns 60% mana cost if you overheal for more than 50%) and Guardian Spirit (+40% to all heals = less healing you need to do).

Yep you must be talking about when he uses Slice and Dice and/or Kidney Shot.

I love the new complex shadows in that video :)

The new shadows are quite impressive, but they really do a number on your FPS in certain areas even on computers which are considered above the recommended spec. The nice part is there are console commands which allow you to adjust the shadow detail and hopefully that will be adopted into the Video Settings interface.

In any case, I recommend to everyone when they get WotLK to try activating the shadows and adjust them so that your FPS remains at a reasonable level because they do rock. :)

Comp:

Vista Home Premium 32
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe nForce 590 SLI
Nvidia 8800 512 (no SLI)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600
2gb Corsair Memory (forgot the specifics, but it was considered cutting edge about 18 months ago so whatever that is)
500GB WD Hard Drive 16mb Cache

Video settings:

1280x1024 Resolution
Terrain Distance is set to half way on the bar
Everything else is completely maxed

In regards to FPS in beta, my average as I walk around in Howling Fjord which is where I have spent the vast majority of my time so far is about 25-30 FPS and that is if I am running with my camera pointing pretty much straight ahead showing part of the sky. It drops a little during combat sometimes but not too much. This is also with the shadow settings set to 1. Default shadow settings (what you are used to in TBC) is equivalent to 0. My FPS drops a TON if I max Terrain Distance though because there is just so much to see in that area. Not sure if that is the case in most of the zones or not.

Personally, I am hoping that it is either just the zone or performance optimizations to the code will come later. It is quite enjoyable regardless though.

I can foresee major cities and battlegrounds being a pain with those shadows.

I also found the thread about Shamans gaining AP from Strength and Agility. Although, I'm not entirely sure whether critical strike rating will take a back seat to agility now. It all depends on the Shaman's new cast order... I assume we'll be using Lava Burst and try to time it up properly with 5x Maelstrom Weapon (insta-cast spell) and the Flame Shock DoT about to run out, as Flame Shock existing on a target will cause Lava Burst to have a 100% crit chance (but it will consume the DoT). But when we crit, we will proc Elemental Focus (next 2 spells will cost 40% less mana) and Elemental Devastation (+9% melee crit for 10 seconds) which Melee crit is what generates Maelstrom Weapon procs to begin with :p. It's all going to be one vicious cycle! It may even be possible to throw some lightning bolts in there depending on how fast we whip up our charges.

Oh and here's that thread...

EDIT:

One thing that you can't forget is Xavier is also playing with minimal amounts of add-ons where add-ons tend to hurt game performance a bit. I play with the following:

C2Q 6600 (stock speeds)
Gigabyte GA-p35-DS3
4GB OCZ DDR2 Platinum (stock speeds)
GeForce 8800GTX (stock speeds)

I run with all on max but Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering, but that's because I play two at once in Windowed mode (switching from Windowed to fullscreen gives me 10-20 FPS). Honestly, shadows are something that I've never really cared much about as I don't usually see them anyway, because I'm too busy kickin' ass ;).

The one other thing that the pot change has me worried about is alch as a profession. Professions have been the left behind red headed stepchild at every turn of the game, and until they demonstrate a desire to keep them up to date as often as they add other game content it will stay that way.
