Well, with the 14.90 gogamer deal right now on GW platinum edition, I thought I'd bump the thread to put it back on the main page. If any of you are interested in another copy or need your first copy, platinum edition has prophecies(the first game) and Eye of the North(the expansion). Also, Halloween is coming up soon and the event for that should be pretty cool if it's like years past. Take care and hope to see ya'll on from time to time.

Well, the decorations are up. The event starts today and will run through Nov. 2nd. The main event will be on the 31st with Mad King Thorn, as usual. Just bumping the thread again for those who might not've realized what's coming up.

I installed it the other day to test out my new i7 920/6gb/4850 rig. It just isn't all that fun - just a constant grind.

I started playing (first time player) and got to the point of having to pick a final class but then king bounty came out and now i'm mid way through witcher. I might give it another chance after witcher - i found it hard to find people to group with and a bit boring - probably because the game is quite old and i'm a new player - always more fun to group with with new people.

you must not have played any other MMO type games.. this has no grind compared to most. I can get from starting to level 20 in 3 hours

Guild Wars only turns into a grindfest if you choose to grind. In GW, you don't have to have the best looking armors or weapons. They do not have any stats or bonuses that you cant get on regular armors and weapons. The only bonus is good looks/aesthetics. The titles are not necessary to have also. They are only there to show other people how "leet" you are.
The GW team promised all sorts of goodies in GW2 for those that grinded the titles, armors and weapons, but let's be realistic here.... It's not like they will make you a god in GW2. At best they will give you some sort of a bonus weapon/armor that no one has unless they grinded as much as you did. It wouldn't be fair to other players if they made you extra powerful, extra fast or whatever.

I gotta admit that at some point I got pulled into all this "good looks" nonsense and grinded for months... But then I stopped and I'm not going back. It is my strong belief that the PvE aspect of GW is mediocre at best. Anyone who says otherwise is in a state of denial just like I was, or is a new player and haven't yet beat the game.

The PvP side on the other hand, can get quite deep and sophisticated, but unfortunately requires a dedicated team of friends willing to play GW, which, unless you already have em in RL, are very hard to find in game. (maybe the AT guild will change that?)


Oh btw, my IGN is Ibex Spiritus(rit), and I have many other characters... If anyone is forming a dedicated PvP team that will meet at least twice a week, contact me through PM here on AT.

Great, I forgot what a pain this game is to install. You have to download a large update through their slow ass servers just to get into the game THEN you have to download the map, trying to get into LA, thruogh their slow ass servers again. Damn this sucks. I guess I'll leave it on tonight when I go out and it'll probably take a couple hours to download LA just so I can get in and play. YAY when I have to go to another map so I can wait forver to download it for the first time again.
