man they really need a server plugin that only allows 1-2 snipers per side. i was in a few games last night (most frustrating games ever) where 1/2 my team were snipers.
they sat back trying to kill people not helping do anything objective wise. the game pretty much was 16v8. when 1/2 your team ends up with 1-5 kills and no deaths, it's just stupid.

I swear I spend more time in this game trying to find a decent server than I do actually enjoying myself. Half the time I just give up finding a squad and just solo, which isn't all that fun in my opinion.

I completely agree, but for whatever reason its just not in the game.



People are killed out of the Huey very often, the problem is that the pilot is far more protected, so squad mates can just keep spawning on him. Also, smart Huey squads can always avoid death by having the exposed passenger(s) switch seats (assuming the Huey isn't full) and even flying away and allowing themselves to heal up.

As far as being just as easy to kill, well the problem is the Huey is moving fast and the machine guns on the Huey are easily the most powerful weapons against infantry. So shooting the payers out definitely isn't as easy as the Huey gunners can shoot at the slow players on the ground. The obvious advantage for ground troops is that the Huey can't exactly hide and is also one, consolidated target.




You must be talking about Conquest, my expertise is Rush, however on Conquest I don't even bother with the Hueys because tanks can swat them out of the air with incredible ease (again, the giant circle the blades create count as part of the Huey hit box). Honestly I would rather have the Hueys focus on the ground targets because of that. The Hueys really aren't meant for air to air.

Hit it with the tank guys, its extremely satisfying bringing down a whole squad in one shot, especially if its the 2nd or 3rd time youve done it to that same squad It also allows your own chopper to focus on the ground more.

No tank as defender on Rush unless the attackers are nice enough to give one to the defenders, which generally doesn't happen too often, heck I even said I don't even bother with the Huey when playing Conquest because of how easy it is to swat the Hueys out of the sky with them .

But on Rush while on defense if your team won't be dumb enough (usually they are dumb enough) to destroy the jeeps the attackers careless use to quickly get from their base to yours and you can then steal it and use the 50 cal against the chopper but that's about the best you can realistically hope for, although the jeeps are very easy targets for good Huey crews to deal with.

yeah I try and rocket/grenade the jeeps if I am leaving them somewhere

well BF2's prone penalty didn't come until the last patch and i don't even know how effective it is but in 2142 it was enough to deter prone diving.

I played BF2 a couple of months ago and I was dolphin dived to death. At least 75% of the time someone was shooting at me it was from a dolphin dive.

Obviously, you don't have a clue what dolphin-diving is. It was fixed several patches ago.

There is dolphin dive as exploit, and dolphin dive as annoyance. (same went for bunny hopping in CS if you recall those days). I think he's referring to getting shot by someone with their gun pointing up as they're diving to the ground.

This is pretty much it, although it happens all in one motion and I'm not sure if there was a jump in there or not.

hahahaha It wasn't that. But years ago dolphin diving was also someone jumping, going prone and shooting. Heres my youtube definition. And they still do it the last time I checked it out, especially using the heavy machine gun.

dolphin diving is supposed to be when they jump back up and immediately go prone again so it looks like they're prone through the air - ie the first video. Its called dolphin diving because it looks like a dolphin porpoising out of the water.

Maybe you've heard that one too - porpoising - of course its harder to spell and remember, and seeing how this is the internet, dolphin diving was used. I suppose the confusion with "dolphin diving" is that the term dive implies going down, so I could see how someone could confuse the act with someone exploiting prone by simply diving to the ground.

Either way its lame, however the original exploit was far worse.

I've got a few gripes here and there, but all in all I'm enjoying it a lot.

Edit: and considering that both the game and expansion cost less than the retail copy of MW2 I got for Christmas, I'd say that's win.

It seemed to me that all servers were down last night. Probably had to do with the server update that was being rolled out. Other ideas? Seems like it's taking a long time if servers are still down.

LOL, I bought the Vietnam pack tonight and on my first multiplayer game, I shot down 3 Hueys with my main tank gun including one that was flying way off in the distance. It was a lucky shot that I eyeballed. They started screaming that I was cheating. LOL!

LOL, I shot down this squad twice tonight in my first game and they were really screaming. Sure, one shot was a wild one (hit them way off in the distance as they were traveling away at an angle), but I told them it was a lucky shot (which it was).

Because of a distinct lack of anti air DICE decided to include the giant circle the chopper blades form as part of the hit-box on the Huey (not the case with the choppers in the main game), so yeah, its incredibly easy to shoot it down with the tank's main gun because of that fact.

Exactly, and these idiots acted like I was some super hacker shooting them down. The Huey is slow and is a huge target. The long distance shot I made was luck, but when they're 100 ft high and moving slowly, it is easy pickings.

Fired up the game this past weekend for the first time in like 4 months.

Very depressed. I was "that" guy that loaded up with C4 on Rush maps and laid waste to the MCOMs. When the heck did they nerf C4 damage on them? It was my one joy in playing this game. Mehhh.
