after getting gold on all the Vietnam weapons, the M10 is by far the worst.

Well, I take that back, the lamethrower is the worst.

Of course I'm sort of kidding here, but the flamethrower really is mostly novelty, and most players who use it generally end up being a waste of a teammate. There are a few niche scenarios where the flamethrower is actually useful and not lame, such as dousing armed MCOMs to clear it of enemies, but its hard to get the timing right on when one should be sporting the flamethrower instead of some useful weapon. It is quite a bit of fun though. For a good laugh, get together with a squad of friends and medicball with flamethrowers.

But back to the M10. Its just too underpowered or inaccurate to be legitimately considered over the PPSh or UZI or even the Thompson. It's too bad they opted to go without a suppressor the gun was practically designed for.

Interview with DICE: New Content for BC2 Unlikely.

Before BC2: Vietnam hit virtual store shelves, we flicked DICE a short interview about the then upcoming expansion. Unfortunately, due to the meddling fatso who goes by the name of Sandy C. Laws, DICE's response was delayed until today, with many of the questions answered by the release of BC2: Vietnam. However, there are still a couple of nuggets worth reading courtesy of Björn Johnsson, one of the Producers at DICE. Most interesting is Björn's statement that BC2 probably won't be getting any new content, claiming that "VIP Map Pack 7 is probably the last one."

...

games.on.net: Bad Company 2 is one of our favourite FPS of all time... but it needed more maps! Is BC2:Vietnam the last content expansion? Did Dice see the number of maps as an issue?

Björn Johnsson: You should never say never, but we have nothing planned right now when it comes to even more maps for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. VIP Map Pack 7 is probably the last one.

I may be reconsidering my decision not to do a FAQ for BF3...once solid info starts coming out.

Anyone run into issues trying for 2 people to play on the same server from behind a router? From Google it seems it might be a server side problem or something with which ports are used.

Chances are you'll need to change which port one of client's send BC2 data through, but how you go about doing that I'm not sure. I know I've run into that problem in other games and it was as simple as changing a number in an ini file but that was a while back.

This looks appropriate.
For those who are playing in the same network as BC2 another person:

Shot this heli out of the sky TWICE!!

BFBC2Game2011-01-0616-53-24-35.jpg

The thing that is weird is last night, I got a pop up on the menu screen asking if I wanted to switch to Aero Basic because my computer was running slow (?)!!!

I was like WTF because I have a pretty fast system so I'm not sure why that message came up?

I have most of my settings on HIGH and they have worked perfectly and I've never seen that message before.

I did install a bunch of old games to another drive the other day and so my total available space on the OS drive (C:/) is about 24GB. Could that be the reason?

What is the best way to clear up space on the OS drive? I've moved the PageFile and disabled Hibernate etc. My OS drive is actually 2 SLC SSDs in RAID-0.

HELP!

Better decide soon, I'm betting on a formal announcement in the next month, with maybe a trailer or something. Release date by nov. of this year.

I am much more cynical on the subject. Everyone would love for them to release it for the holidays, but I have a feeling it will slip to early 2012.
And they won't want to release any real details (because then people hold them to things, or at least throw it back in their faces) until the third quarter.

I still remember they didn't release ANY clear screen shots of the PC version of BFBC2 before the beta was released!

Anyway, we don't really have any info to start a FAQ before they have a grand unveiling, anyway.

I have a hunch this might have to do with running tasks in the background that use significant Aero resources (perhaps browser windows or videos). Just a guess.

I think it could go either way, they would [probably like to play it close to the vest, but they want to go toe to toe with COD this fall, so I think they're going to have to ramp up the hype machine. It'll definitely be out by november though, EA won't let COD launch unchallenged, no matter how buggy the game is on release (and given BF, it's going to be super buggy anyway).

We have an ATF BC2 and Vietnam server you guys should check out, we're the ATF Frag'em and Bag'em. I know you used to frequent our BF2 server fairly regularly.

Good server. Been playing on it recently.

Don't know that BF3 is really a direct competitor to COD since it's a much more involved game, but I do hope it's out by November.

In my experience, yes, there has to be some sort of splash damage or at least aim assist because I just try and keep my aim at the ground around my intended targets if its too hard to get a direct shot, and I've definitely racked up the kills (nearly 1,500 so far) and have been banned several times.

I normally have my mouse (a Steelseries Xai) at 450 dpi but I'll use 1800 or even 3600 dpi as my alternate dpi state when gunning in the Huey.

I have a friend who is an excellent pilot and I've even set up the front-left and front-right side buttons to correspond with the matching gunner seat so that when its just the two of us in the Huey I can quickly switch sides if he makes a sudden move and rolls the chopper onto its other side and I can thus keep firing away.

IIRC it has to do with the stats servers being overwhelmed, granted, why they didn't create a client side file for saving such a thing seems incredibly silly with hindsight.

from what i know, kits are saved locally in the gamesettings.ini file... but ever since vietnam, switching back and forth would wipe out the saved kits...

how do you fix the helo in mid air? reason i ask is because a couple nighs ago we had a helo, 2 gunners and then me as engineer. when the health would get a bit low i would try to fix the helo, weird thing is is that it wouldn't work all the time (and it wasn't from overusing the wrench). then sometimes it would fix it no problem - very sporadic.

The chopper has to be horizontal for the repair tool to work i gather, so it will work when landed or if the pilot is good he can keep it horizontal in the air maybe although that makes you an excellent target for a tank/RPG.
