MR ANANDSHIMPY,

I purchased ASUS CUSL2 Motherboard - for use with Corsair PC133 CAS2
memory and IBM Deskstar HDD.

After assembly, on while booting the display stopped saying "Power
Management Fault". On checking the BIOS showed that various line
voltages were all significantly wrong.

Reported the matter to ASUSTeK and their local dealer. I was advised
by ASUSTEK to flash the BIOS with their latest version. But it did not
make any difference. After a lot of correspondence and threatening them
to file a suit against them, they replaced the motherboard.

It worked well for nearly 3 months and then the COM1 became dead. I
shifted to COM2. Then within a fortnight the Printer Port was dead.
Although the motherboard is well within warranty period, the dealer
refused to replace it. ASUSTeK refuse to comment and to my each email -
there is one guy there Bruce Chen - sends me the standard reply "cannot
see your mail".

MY EXPERIENCE WITH CUSL2 AND THE AUSUTeK COMPANY AND THEIR LOCAL DEALER -
SHOWS PATHETIC SITUATION.

Having used 2 pieces of CUSL2 and every time run into stability
problems -
I WOULD LIKE TO ASK ANANDTECH - HOW SUCH A ROTTEN MOTHERBOARD WAS GIVEN "THE EDITOR'S CHOICE GOLD"

WHAT SHOULD ONE DO WITH ASUSTeK WHO GIVE A DAMN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. HAVE
THEY BECOME TO BIG FOR THEIR BOOTS.

Mr. Anandshimpy, I shall be obliged to receive your personal reply.

Also, I welcome all other forum members to comment.

Did you check your PSU? It seems like your PSU is at fault, more than the Mobo. Line Voltage issues are usually a PSU problem.
I've had nothing but good experiences with Asus boards, and most people wil tell you the same.

EDIT: Think before you post. Threatning them with a suit? I'm sure they were quaking in their boots...

asus is a quality board and i doubt you'd get two defective boards in a row... it sounds to me like you have another piece of equipment in their that may be taking things out while not being suicidal itself....

one thing i can say about asus.... RMA'ing something is a complete pain in the ass.....

Magicthyse & Forcesko,

Sorry for not mentioning - the PSU WAS THOROUGHLY CHECKED.
I even used two new Power Supply systems of two different Taiwanese
manufacturers.

E-PHEX,

Unless the authorised dealers are supplying duplicate boards.......the
two pieces of CUSL2 motherboard I had were clearly and distinctly
marked CUSL2 and even the identification tallied with ASUS.

Also, once the dealer, on being threatened to be sued replaced
the motherboard.

Some people on the CUSL2C forum actually have good luck with them... they do that trade thing where they RMA a CUSL2/CUSL2-C board and they get back a TUSL2/TUSL2-C... some of those boards were perfectly fine though.

I've been running a CUSL2 for well over a year now, no problems here. Arguably the best motherboard I've had, plenty of options, rock solid. Though, I do know that ASUS customer support is far from what it should be, only downside to them imho.

Having used dozens of CUSL2s for everything from desktops to light servers I can see your luck is not good. Besides what has been mentioned by other members, have you also gone one step further and checked the wiring and power condition in your house? I knew someone who also had several PC die for no apprent reason, turn out the line voltages were very inconsistant with many heavy spikes and dips. All stability and hardware issues were cured with a good quality UPS.

A few other considerations, were you overclocking? Did you put any Delta fans on the 3 pin power headers? What other devices were used? A full spec of your system would also help in any diagnosis.

Good luck on the system.

Two bad motherboards in a row seems kind of suspicious to me as well. And especially from ASUS. Threating people with law suits is not going to get you very far either. Maybe replacing motherboard once, but that's pretty much it. Your lawsuit is going to cost you more than the motherboard itself, so be realistic there and please don't start your pointless "I'll sue them" routine.

As everyone mentioned, check other components in your system. It is just not possible that CUSL2 works great for everybody (including myself), but you have two defective in a row. Once again, there is 99% chance that some component in you system fries your motherboards.

When you say taiwanese, it doesn't mean good PSU, ie some taiwanese stuff are super grey market, unless it's a good OEM or Authentic PSU, you could have problem.
