The Arab Silence on Darfur

"The only effective way to counter this propaganda of hate-mongering and deceit ( pan-Arabism's ) is to mobilize the Arab liberal movement. That hasn't been very successful so far, especially given the lack of support of the Western democracies. As a result, the ignorant Arab masses will continue to be kept hostage to charlatans of pan-Arabism and Islamism, and other Darfurs may be forthcoming."

Seems like they want it both ways.
The want the support of Western nations to support the Arab liberal movement, however, they also do not want the baggage (Western Influence) that comes with it.

After 9-11 you really had to beg for something out of them.

More weak (and slightly racist I might add) generalizations from you, what a shock.
Iranians were having candle-lit vigils for us after 9/11. Likewise, many Kuwaitis, Saudis, Qataris, Omanis, etc were horrified at 9/11. I was mad too when I saw Palestinians rejoicing in their streets, throwing candy at the news the Towers fell, but you don't see me lumping "them" into one big group and making stupid comments about them. Way to illustrate the moral-ness of the moral majority!
