I am a potential short investor that wants to get sentiment on the iPod. Their stock has just been on a tear, and their earnings are due to be released next month. I'm looking to short/put the stock, and I would like the opinions of avid technology users.

So is the iPod train still strong or is the hype over? Thanks guys.

The iPod is going to get hotter and hotter based upon:
1) Availability of small, high resolution color LCD's
2) Continued miniturization (sp?) of affordable solid state memory
3) Increased density of 2.5" HDD's

The iPod UI is undeniably the #1 method for accessing tunes on a mobile device.

i really dont like their UI. im the type of person to like using folders

technically i would say that they are folders. Maybe even dynamic folders? The way the software organizes the files, and let you either look through a tree of albums, artists, playlists or just no tree, that's good. When I was shopping for a mp3 player I picked the ipod because of 2 reasons: 1: my school had a huge discount on it, 2: I liked the user interface over anything else. To me, UI is more important than other features. When I tried using the iRiver h10, I just got pissed trying to browse the songs.

I have no freaking idea what JS80 said in any of his posts. I have an Ipod Mini and it's decent, I guess. I could use a longer battery life, but I've had mine now for a year and a half and it still looks good.

I bought a Nano and sold it about 1 month later and got an Iaudio X5L. The Nano is a nice little device but I wanted something more flexible and better sounding. Nothing wrong with it IMO but I'd rather have function over form.

Insane.

just saw that earlier...part that upsets me is that I was this <...> close to buying a few calls on it early in the morning, probably about $2000 worth. Missed that boat :(
