Has anyone ever been in an anechoic room / chamber? There is absolutely no reflected sound whatsoever. Talking is so strange it makes you feel like you're congested. It's because the only sound getting to your ears is direct and through conduction of the bones in your head. In a normal room most of the sound is reflected off hard things.
It's a weird experience.
People probably think of padded rooms for crazy folks too. If you get the chance, check it out once.
