Yes read the book it really is an awesome read as well as sphere and nearly any book by Michael Chricton.

Sphere was def another fantastic read that got messed up on the big screen.

Jurassic Park and Lost World are also rather different than the movies - but at least JP is a good movie.

I really liked that book, though it was ages ago that I read it. I have not seen either of the movies.

Huh? The book translated into the movie rather well, considering the butcher job they did to JP and LW ... honestly, I liked the Sphere movie, not quite as much as the book but it was good and stuck to the story line pretty well.

Yea I liked those movies especially considering I was about 11 when it came out. Though even the book puts the movies to shame. You miss a lot of excitement by not reading the actual books.

The only reason the movie was decent was because I read the book. I dont see how anyone who didnt read the book could say that movie was good.

Outbreak is better.

Dustin Hoffman, Cuba Gooding Jr., Donald Sutherland, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Rene Russo...

How could it NOT be better than a made for TV movie?

Or the older one either.

Yup.

Remember when they are behind the waterfall hiding from what...was it the T-Rex?

But yeah, even now I still like JP - I think it was a well done movie. But then it is Spielberg.

Lost World is among the few Spielberg movies I am not too fond of.

The original 1971 'Andromeda Strain' is one of the best Sci-Fi movies made, and I question the taste (and I.Q.) of anybody who doesn't respect this film as a Sci-fi masterpiece.

The remake however is horrible.

Chrichton is over-rated as writer and repeats the same themes to absurdity; "lets stick a mathematician, engineer, zoologist, and transvestite together in a crisis and listen to their viewpoints. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ................

However, he has fleshed out a few interesting Sci-Fi themes in his career like JP and Andromeda.

'Sphere', the film, was poorly cast and the director, Barry Levinson only made the film because he was obligated after 'Wag the Dog'. This could have been a VERY good film.
