I dunno, when you're fairly tall, striking that low with a palm seems kind of difficult. The positioning is kind of awkward. I would understand if I were going for the nose or striking in an upwards motion but down there, it seems to me that the arm positioning for a palm strike seriously reduces the velocity a fist strike could impart on the pelvis.
