The AnandTech Introduction Thread: Get To Know Your Peers

Titillating

Assistant Community Manager
Just to clarify, this is open to ALL users. We will be shipping these internationally, so don't be shy!

Hello AnandTech readers and forum regulars! In the spirit of the event, allow me to start things off by introducing myself.

My name is Kevin and I’m the Assistant Community Manager for Purch. For those who missed it, AnandTech became part of the Purch family in December. Since then, we’ve been doing little things to improve the forums and the community (like getting rid of the weekly maintenance) while preserving the essence and feel of the AnandTech forums that so many lifers have come to love.

For quite a few years now, the news and forum sides of AnandTech have been a bit separated. Readers tended to stick to the articles and forum-goers stuck to the forums. This has never been a bad thing, but we think it would be even better if everybody got to know each other and experience the entirety of AnandTech. This is your chance to make it happen.

We’ve set up this introduction thread to help facilitate the blending of the two sides of this awesome community. As an added bonus, we’re going to be giving away ten nifty little AnandTech-branded screwdrivers in the process. These handy tools feature reversible Phillips head/flathead screwdriver heads—in two varying lengths and sizes. Very fancy, even if they don't have sonic capabilities. They can be super handy when working with computers or for general handiwork around the house. Everybody who participates in the thread and introduces themselves becomes eligible to win, regardless of whether they are a newly registered forum user or a lifer with thousands of posts.

Loyal readers, this is your chance to dip your toe into the forum community! Introduce yourselves and look around; the AT forum is home to a robust community of users who love to talk about anything and everything, so we’re sure you’ll find interesting conversations to take part in!

And for forum regulars, this is your chance to greet some potential future peers and perhaps get acquainted with some regulars you may not have interacted with before. Get to know each other, make some new friends; a forum is only as good as its community, so show everybody what makes the AnandTech community so great!

The giveaway will run until the end of August to give everybody plenty of time to participate, but we hope that you’ll all continue with the introductions and networking long after we give out the freebies. Winners will be randomly selected so everybody will have an equal chance to win. No favoritism or bias—all participants will be entered into a randomizer and ten names will be pulled. Winners will be contacted via a forum PM with instructions on how to claim their shiny new tool, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox!

Hi. I'm Ken, and around here I suggest builds for other people. I have [thread=2389797]a stickied thread[/thread] with a few baseline suggestions. I haven't built myself a system in a few years, but I've upgraded a few times and I keep planning to build real soon now.

You might also see "Moderator" in my title, but I'm only the moderator over on the Programming forum, not here. My day job is doing website development for a company I won't name.

\/ Oh, and I like prime numbers. 😉 And Distributed Computing.

Hi,

I love computers and particularly GPU's. You can find me mostly in the VC&G forums talking all things graphics. The first time I ever visited anandtech.com was the day of the Nvidia 8800 GTX launch (Nov 2006 I believe) and I've been back pretty much every day since. Been on the Forums since 2010.

Cheers!

Hi!

I work in IT and I used to build a lot of computers, but now I'm just enjoying an Alienware Alpha and Surface Pro 3. Is the future we live in? Laaaame 🙂

Hi. I used to frequent these forums a while back. Not sure why I stopped hanging around.

Anyway i'm just a regular person with a low paying hourly job with too much PC hardware knowledge.

ed: wow it has been a long time. my sig is super old!

Diego over here. I'm a gamer-turned-programmer and as far as I can remember I've building my own PCs (and my friends' PCs).

New tools are always welcome =D

18 year old student, like tech waay above my level (which is why I read AT 🙂 ).
Forum is really good for discussing with other members, some of the best are on the AT forums, learn a lot everytime.

Well I use to be a nerd.
Then I had kids.
Currently working on a media server and a photo server both inside a 4u rack mount case.

Hi!

Just wondering whether this is for international readers as well, or just for people in the USA..

Anyways, I'm Aleksi from Finland and I'm into computers, phones and photography.

Also, this seems to be my first post since I've created my account in 2007 😵

Ah...so you finally got me to the forum. I have resisted for so long. Funny how something as simple as a screwdriver can do that. I guess I just like free stuff?

Hi, I'm Shaun I mostly stick to the articles. I also need to get my username changed 😉

YGPM about restoring your original user name. 🙂

Another long time reader and occasional poster. Used to work in IT and looking to get into IT again in the U.S. Air Force. Only 20!

My specialty is old hardware. Need help on what AGP card to get for that old retro build? I frequent the CPU and graphics sub sections of the forums mostly but you'll also find me on other hardware and software sub sections.

Hi!

I've lurked around AnandTech for a long time, because I appreciate the in-depth coverage and comprehensive reviews of computer hardware and electronics. I love building and maintaining my rig, and it seems as though there are many like-minded people in these forums!
