I've taken to turning off the ringer and answering machine some nights it's been so bad here in the Seattle area.

Besides a close senate race, there are a bunch of initiatives with heavy corporate and union funding both pro and con. The radio ad slots are now 90% lying attack ads now too.

the local news here does a FACT OR FICTION look at many of the major ads... and they're all fiction..for both sides.

not phone calls but plenty of emails. someone thought my email was theirs (its first initial-last name) and now email notifications on my phone are dinging like im the last drug dealer in a 50 mile radius.

You're just lucky, I know a lot of those places have what amounts to a war dialer that dials every prefix+4 digits possible one by one in order. They'll have a dozen machines doing this all day. I have an unlisted number but I got 2 calls so far this week, and am sure I'll get more. Unlisted or not you can't hide from a war dialer.
