You decide.

Video of coin.

High res pics and story.

So is this simply a hoax? Or do we now believe it is possible?

From that site:

The story went on to say that the US Government has intentionally overspent itself for the purpose of irreversibly Bankrupting the country. The idea is that they will drive the country into economic failure, then when millions of Americans are panicking at the prospect, offer them a solution of merging the three countries as "the only possible way" to avoid losing everything.

They will force Canada into the merger by telling them the US currency they hold and rely upon will be worthless and the only way Canada can even hope to salvage any of the funds is to join the NAU.

This would explain the unquenchable thirst for spending over the past few years. Whats you take?

Snopes or not, I've already said the Amero is all they're accepting now at the border crossing between Canada and the USA in Buffalo, NY. This is a fact. I've already had to pay with Ameros several times during crossings and my entire company is now paid in Ameros. And strawberry cupcakes.

Our newest national, er, tri-national symbol - Sex Kitten of Liberty! If we're going to have an Amero like that, at least she should be wearing hockey skates.

Think this through rationally (okay, suspend disbelief about the whole union for a moment). Any Amero coin would have to be designed by committee. A committee of Canadian, American, and Mexican bureaucrats. Whatever they ultimately came up with wouldn't look like that. The design would have to show aspects of tri-lateral cooperation, a picture of a Ford Escort maybe.

The illegal alien who mows my lawn says he is hoarding his Ameros.
So that in 10 years he can use them to pay me to mow HIS lawn.

No, it won't. There is absolutely no reason anyone would want this. While open trade with Canada and Mexico is good, this is NOT the EU. The US is by far the dominant partner in this particular trade relationship, why in the 7 levels of hell would we give that up?

I don't get it? We want to CAUSE economic collapse or we want to prevent it?

Lawl. The government would be opening up a shit storm if they ever did attempt to full switch to an Amero. Since this is now dubbed a hoax, if an Amero ever DID show up, you can bet your sweet asses conspiracies will be reactivating of not only coverups but NAU possibilities, etc.. People will look back at all the NAU and Amero conspiracies that have been circulating for awhile and say, "Hmmm, We have conspiracies warning of a NAU and Amero... and here we have an Amero being pushed as a currency." At the very least, it will turn some heads.

However, if there was some type of economic emergency, I would bet there would be a switch with little resistance. Especially when the news stations start fear mongering and inserting words like 'terrorist attack on our economy', 'economic collapse', 'economic disaster', etc.. And with the dollar slowly dwindling, and the proposed massive taxes for CO2, eh, who knows...

I am interested in how everything shall play out within the next 5-10 years. Interesting times.

If there is an economic collapse of the dollar then an "Amero" may be the "solution" that presents itself.
