I am beginning to fear I am watching this for nothing and I won't even get to see 1 second of the game being rendered in mantle.

They also just said that Mantle is not tied to AMD and was designed not only for GCN. He just said Mantle would be more efficient for "the other vendor"

How would you even know if it was rendered in Mantle?

I can't watch the stream at work, and it wouldn't matter if I could, I don't have sound. I will just look at the marketing slides afterwards.

Suspicions confirmed. No performance / FPS comparison whatsoever to direct x rendering paths. No demonstration of the technology.

They just said Mantle is not exactly what is on PS4 but it close enough that it takes minimal work to go from ps4 api to mantle on a pc.

Yeah, they talk about sharing some things with Sony API, like concepts and strategies but that is certanly not enoght. Also it does not tell anything, its not like the TrueAudio//PS4 thing, that "sharing" with PS4 API looks like marketing to me and not much else.

Also the no GCN tied up, i wondering why there is not support for their OWN graphics cards that are not GCN then.

I am now looking forward to the release of the SDK, there are a lot of things addressed that I have been looking for for years.

They did not say what would need to be done to make it compatible. For all we know, it could require some implementation on the hardware level that only GCN has and would require NVIDIA to add to their future cards. Or AMD just wants to sell more new cards.

It sounds like it isn't just a direct recompile for PC to of the PS4 code, but it isn't a rewrite. It shares a lot of similarities and you might have to change some of the calls made to the hardware, but the core logic would remain untouched.

Have they said anything about even a beta SDK being anywhere near launch ready?
